responses again, lalala I'm happyy~
It really is a pleasure hearing many thoughts 🙂 I learn soooo much 🙂
@CuthienSilmeriel
see the works and the real life 😃
(Though this could be because things like murder and theft etc get more exposure than incest so we become more conditioned to them.)
Ahha I like that sentence. Hear incest make people shudder because it's taboo and the case is very rare, while murder and theft even much more taboo, but happen a lot, to the extent we didn't feel really surprised hearing bout it than we heard bout incest...
@KaoriNite
I conclude you're also not be bothered?
I am a little surprised that some of you say that you would be completely okay with someone you know being in an incestuous relationship.
IMO, family and friend is very different. If one of your family get into trouble, you as his/her family, like it or not, would be involved. But if it's friend, it's your choose to get yourself involved or not. That's why I positioned it 'if you were siblings'.
what really annoyed about the film was how basically every one around them knew about their relationship and was okay with it.
Yep yep, that's why I gave Koi Kaze as example of serious, because the people reactions there, and the older brother that tried so hard denying it and the younger sister that... young. Whew, I think a good parent shouldn't give "Well, I can't tell them what they are doing is wrong", but try to find a way to separate them first... But maybe, also as parent, you couldn't withstand seeing your children suffer...?
@Identity Crisis
unless actions give me reason to do otherwise.
ahaha, cool 😀 yep yep 😃
Quote from CuthienSilmeriel
Once I got over the shock of my brother actually writing anything, I thinkI would probably be uncomfortable with it, even if it had no relation to our lives at all. I guess it would depend a lot on how he was acting about it (same for my sister).
I wouldn't ever condemn siblings that are in a mutually concensual relationship as no one can choose who they fall in love with, (parents are a different matter altogether for me) but the whole thing just weirds me out and I probably wouldn't be able to accept the relationship.
I think it's because it just seems so wrong for me to think of my brother that way. I love him to bits, and would do anything to help him, but the idea of a romatic relationship makes me shudder. It's probably some kind of defense mechanism against inbreeding hardwired into our brains, like a fear of spiders, which is why so many people are repulsed by it in a way we aren't repulsed by other taboos. (Though this could be because things like murder and theft etc get more exposure than incest so we become more conditioned to them.)
Ditto
Well said.

But if it makes you happy to win on the internet, have at it.

Fiction is fiction is fiction. Actually coming from a family of writers, one of which once wrote a mildly successful screenplay with an incest subplot (though it was mother-son and he didn't write the original source material), I don't think I can see it as inherently weird. I'd assume there was a difference between fiction and reality. The only way I could feel differently, I think, is if there were incredibly strong implications that one of the subjects in question was based on myself- an identical name, for instance, nothing subjective.
@Cuthien: I think the difference is that an aversion to murder and theft is a social norm, while incest appears to be one cultivated on a genetic basis. So basically I agree with you, but I think the answer could be qualified a bit differently.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

If my sister, if she were my brother wrote something like that, then i would not only think it out of character but i would wonder where she got it from, since, my sister, if she were a boy with the same personality i doubt would think like that, it would probably have something totally unrelated to insest as the actual issue and story line, it just so happens that it is a good story line. If i were a mother and had a son and daughter and one of them wrote a story about it then i would probably react like i would if it were my sister my brother.
I think incest is pretty wired, but the ancient egyptians really liked it and I read a book where two minor characters who were half brother and sister fell in love and had a child, but, honestly, i would think it a bit wired, but aside from that I probably wouldn't care, its there life after all.
I also think a romantic relationship with my sister is just a bit wired, for one, were both girls, two i'm pretty sure she doesn't like girls and three, even if we weren't sisters and one of us were a guy, we could be friends, but never love each other.
We work in the dark, we do what we can, we give what we have, out doubt is our passion and our passion is our task, the rest is the madness of art. Henry james

I wouldn't mind. I believe everyone should have the right to draw/write/read about whatever they'd like. If any of my sisters or my brother liked/drew incest manga, I'd be proud to have a sibling who's openminded enough to share my belief that love is never wrong. Although I could never romantically love any of my relatives, love can't be controlled, and I'd support any mutual relationship between two siblings/relatives. It's not my life and if they're happy, it's fine with me.
