lol, i'm exactly where you are...
I've got most of those books too 🙂 hirigana, katakana, kanji*. For me, if i can pick it up and apply it to manga, then it'd be awesome. I could help with translating considering there are so few japanese translators... (why is that?) and also I can read it directly from the raws!!!.
sticks nerd sign on himself 🤣
*cannot be totally sure, i'd need to recheck again.

Oh, yes.
And I refuse to be called a fool! 🤣
I'm also trying to learn chinese.
I would advise you to search for some programs helping with learning japanese. I've got two, but for chinese. It's a great help.
Well, good luck!

look @ all the support you have!!
I, however, am not learning any languages, because my other school work is bunched up enough... And mandarin is more useful (in my case)

As a chinese guy i'd love to pick this up (i'm too westernised) just so i can argue against my folks well. But i don't find the language appealing, nor use it much, and most self teach books are awful, but if you know of any (cantonese ones), give them a shout plz 😀

i got the sounds naturally from reading manga and watching the kar' in anime... for kanji i found a website and im keeping a notebook (my classmates keep asking me to write their name in japanese -_-' )...
this is the second lanquage im learning this way, and im getting pretty good, so i cant call u a fool....
btw it only took me 2 years to learn how to speak and understand, and im reading quite well after 3 months.
so it doesnt take years (for me, at the very least, with my 5 languages)

Well, I have one I got with my book and it's very helpful.
Haven't really checked the other one, but it looks good.
If anyone wants it, PM me and I will give you a link and explain everything, cause the portal you can download it from doesn't have an english version (only polish).
It's completely legal, virus scanned etc etc.

Yes, it has a lot of language versions, including english one.
You don't really have to dl it from there, I could send it in an e-mail (it's small)
Not studying polish. Using it for almost 22 years already 🤣

I'm taking a japanese course in uni for the same reason. Plus I want to go to Japan.
