For starters don't compare factory farming to lions. Lions don't know how to kill humainly because they are not human also lions do not force bread there prey into large quantities and keep them in cages. Lions do not kill for any other value than to survive. Also we do not need to buy as much meat as we do.

Also I think it is important that you understand that although we are an animal we are not primitve and we KNOW how to kill humainley so why don't we? It just seems stupid to go oh but a lion kills it's prey this way. Again we are not like any other animal we can look after our animals until the time is right to slaughter them and we can do so humainly.

The amount of food we waste in this country shows that we do not need to buy the amount of meat that we do.

Sorry if I have repeated myself a lot but that is what I need you to understand.

Okay, explain to me how to kill humanely.
Should we give a prayer? And offer it to the gods before we stab it with a knife? Should to do that to all of the billions of cows and chickens that Americans eat a year?

I'm not saying that because lions do it, we should too. We're human. I understand we're a level above all other living creatures. But because we're a level above mere animals, we have many things creatures of the wild don't. We're human. We have an emotional attachment to living things. Lions on the other hand, have one thing on their mind, survival. That's why they don't have pets. I just don't understand the emotional connection associated with killing an animal. We have animals and we take care of them, because we're human we will develop an attachment to the creature and then we go ahead to kill it. How does that make sense? It's like killing a pet. I'd rather have no emotional attachment to my food.

I'm sure the people who buy food and throw it away weren't thinking they're going to waste food on purpose. It probably went bad and they can't eat it anymore. Do you think they enjoy wasting food and wasting their money? I don't think so.
Besides, it their money. They'll do what they want with it. You want to spend your money on "humanely killed" meat products and they want to spend it on something else. Let them be.

When I say humanly killed I mean quick and painless not slitting there throat and letting them bleed out while they squirm. Also looking after your animals means the quality of the meat will be better when slaughtered. Yes people are aware and they do hate wasting food but when saying that it does not make sence for them to suddenly say oh we can not aford the free range stuff when they clearly could they just don't know how to manage there money properly.

Also yes people can do what ever they want with there money I am just saying buy the quality not the quantity stop animal cruelty. The sad fact is people are greesy and selfish they always have an excuse oh to much money everyone will starve what about world hunger. I promise you that keeping factory faming is not going to cure world hunger and I know taking it away won't either. But the overall fact is taking it away will reduce animal cruelty and increase the quality of meat. Like I have said lots of times we have to much of a high demand for meat why can't people have vegetables some every now and then what is the harm in that?

Also don't mistake me for saying go vegeterian I am saying people need to start learning more about what meat they are eating. Can you honestly say to me that you don't think there is anything wrong with factory farming?

^ Hmm. It does make it seem as though people buy into the free range stuff in order to ease their guilty conscience... Unfortunately the animal is going to be slaughtered either way.

Yes it is but you must agree that torturing the animal is not the way to go about it. I don't understand that why the death can't be quick and painless it is just cruelty. I am not tricking anyone into buying free range I am just telling you how it is.

It is sad that you say that I think you are trying to make out that I am making it out to be some sort of belief system that everyone should follow by. The moral facture is that we should think more about the animal we eat because no animal should be made to suffer am I right?

What she is trying to say(I think) is that discussing this is like discussing religion. It's useless, you won't change my mind, I won't change yours.

Well you can only hope to change peoples minds and I think it is important to make people aware of what they are eating meat wise.

Yes. But not only meat, all my food.
I'm raised on a farm where we have cattle for the purpose of slaughter. We are in every aspect busy with organic farming, and what we eat privately is mostly organic too. Due my disease I try to keep my body as clean/healthy as possible, so I am very fond of the idea I eat food without toxics or things like that. Oh, I'm also a big fan of fair trade ^^

After watching that video, it makes me want to rethink buying that $2.49 worth of 30 eggs I regularly buy from the retail shop.. >_<;

Yeah it is terrible isn't it. I just hope you understand now why you can get 30 eggs for the price of a dozen free range. It is like when you buy pirate copied dvds yeah it is cheaper but the quality is no way near.

Yea, I am aware that value food products are not as ethical as free range/organic/fair trade but I didnt expect it would be this BAD! 😐 >:-(
My roomie's a vegetarian and buys free range eggs, she doesnt even want to use the eggs I bought!

i´ve already seen videos like this on tv. there have neem some tv-shows for kids featuring them and also Galileo. i´m not shocked. we have a vegan in our class and he always preaches things like this. My family buys eggs from chicken under Bodenhaltung (i think it´s Indoor with higher welfare in english). And many of the things shown in the video are illegal here.

You know free range has nothing to do with how they kill the chicken right? It only means that they have been allowed outside nothing more. There are no specific regulations on free range so you don't know how long the chickens were outside or how big the space they are allowed to roam is(keep in mind that this only applies in the US). Also, in the end they still kill the chicken using the same method.

All of those "better sounding terms" actually mean diddly. The difference between traditional factory farming and "free range" can be as little as an extra square foot per animal since there are no fda standards for such things.
But I were i get about half of my meat I can throw a stone to, so I know how they're treated 🤣
One reason I love the country. Boy is it tasty.

So on terms of taste alone, I do care. On how it is killed, not particularly. Not every processing facility is like the dramatic ones peta uses to convert people.
