Well, I chose editor, but I'm really not 100% sure of what the job entails...
I just know that I'm obsessive over the "normal" definition of editing (word choice, grammar, etc), so I thought it'd be the best choice... However, manga editing is probably much different than story editing...
I dunno about normal manga editing, but editing scans is hard for me. I've tried it before and man, makes me feel for those editors out there who put out manga so fast. Also I'm not so well versed with photoshop so that's also part of it.

I wonder how many people take into consideration their current skills with regards to each choice options. For me it's not what you want to do considering your given skills but what you would like to do if you had the necessary skills. Like with editing, i doubt you'd working with LQ phonebook paper scans when editing, but with artwork a lot more HQ than tanks.

Actually, since this is about real jobs, an editor would be the person that corrected the grammar and stuff. Probably in Japan, the author does that, but I don't really know...

I guess a real manga editor encompasses everything. I recall reading in the "author section" of certain mangas that they're editors forced them to change the art style of the protagonist and whatnot until they got to the current picture (I think it might have been Skip Beat, can't recall). At any rate I bet real manga editors critique art, placement of frames, plot, grammar, style and probably have technical assistants and stooges that do all the photoshopping, scanning and cleaning. (The artist himself has assistants that do the inking and such right?)
I would be a translator, after 3 1/2 year of University lvl Japanese, I'm confidant that I could do that much.

Ah, yeah...I forgot that real editors critique basically everything. Like for say a Tokyopop release or any other English licensed release, usually there are only 3 people credited: original author, Japanese-to-English translator, and editor. (At least that's what I remember)

This is a cool poll 😀 I graduated with a degree in Illustration, and am currently working on two children's book series (bragging? yes! heehee...). So manga artist is pretty close to what I am doing now...
If I were to work on a manga though, I'd want someone else to write for me. I like interpreting someone else's ideas, but I find it difficult to come up with ideas out of thin air. Thinking about it this way, I have a lot of respect for mangaka, who most of the time both write and draw manga themselves (even with assistants, it's still pretty amazing).
I'm fluent in like 3 languages. But being a translator for a job seems pretty boring ^^" so I'd either be an artist or editor. Probably artist. I'm better at drawing real life figures than cartoonish faces though. (I actually wanted to go into designing or sthg art-related, but my parents say I won't get a good job.. 😢 so now I'm going into accounting.. 🙁 )

I liked this poll. I voted for Artist, because it's
what I most aspire to be in life. Well...something
in that field anyway.
I believe I'm not so bad at drawing, and
my art style is quite similar to Ai Yazawa's.
Similar...but unique. In my terms anyway.
I have a lot of respect for mangaka like lys.
It must take a lot to do that in my opinion.
Good pool. I chose Story/Script Writer, and I'm a little surprised it's only got 14.8% till now.
I think I've good imagination and writing skills (in my native language, obviously 😛 ) and I really really really suck at drawing, so it was a pretty obvious choice. 😀
I think that if that was my job, I'd spend almost all the time arguing with the artist about how characters are portrayed.

Script writer is currently leading at 25.8%. It's just the choices and results don't align which makes it confusing. 🙂

Sorry, we can't really change that due to site layout size limitations...
Anyways, I'm surprised the last option isn't winning, hahaha. I guess a lot of people think they can write better stories than the current series out there
