I mean most of major sub-plotlines been revealed - Naruto's parentage, Itachi's innocence, Madara's secret involvement with everything - 9-Tail attack, Uchiha's clan decimation, Akatsuki formation. Final antagonists been revealed, most (if not all 8) Tail beasts been captured/destroyed by Akatsuki.
It looks to me that final battle is coming up - I mean once all other Akatsuki members are finished before Sasuke and Madara, right?
Unless Kishimoto reveals something else and Orochimaru might revive one more time before final battle to prolong the story... and obviously Kishimoto likes to prolong his battles - so it will take a while just to get thru all battles - like 2-3 volumes per battle...

Were there any official/unofficial annoucements/comments by Kishimoto at all regarding Naruto's end? 😉

it's a shame that the Tailed Beast's (except naruto and gaara) dont have much screentime. Ichibi = Gaara had a good story, Niibi = yugito Nii ...sad to say but a user who can control the own beast was so easy defeatet....BORING!!
from 5-7 there are no infos. and the 8Tailed is defeated by Team Taka.

Story... it could end soon but there are sure a lot of points who can make it into a story.

here we go:

• Hanabi Hyuga, she is the little sister of Hinata, and the most powerful Hyuga alive, and of course the next Clan-Leader. She could have some Screen Time in future/filler /or Maybe a Sequel where Naruto is the Hokage and the Anime follows a new Generation ^^.

• Rin, she was in the Team with kakashi and Obito as they were young. Obito died and Rin is stated as "missing" maybe dead. There would be some Space to explain what happend with her, why young kakashi couldn't protect her.

• The 7 Legendary Swordsmen, there are still some left to take Action
  Zabuza is dead, Kisame is with Akatsuki and another died in the OVA Special.

• the other Tailed Beast, mabe there will some specials or action, because 3 are complete unknown, and the hell even if they will/was defeated, there are 9 Beast's beside naruto and gaara,...at least 1 other could have the power to impress (and i dont mean the 8 tailed)

whatsoever..we will see what will happen.
i like naruto much, but to the status of an One Piece, narutos story cant catch up
(One Piece Story is one of the complexest i ever saw from Season 1- now, from chapter 1 to now so many things are connected...but thats OT...Naruto is it here ^^)

yea i didnt get that... orochimaru was both in sasuke and kabuto... orochimaru was more of trying to take over kabuto, as he stated, and sasuke simply took over orochimaru... so im guessing there is a half of orochimaru still alive? or kabuto just takes over the spotlight.... since the way things are, the sennins are meant to all die as the author want it to be displayed... it would make sense for the three to go legend.... i mean i personally thought jiraiya was actually ganna die when i saw orochimaru get schooled by sasuke....

ya part three would be awesome, but theres also one MAJOR thing thats been bugging me lately.... isn't naruto still a gennin? o.0 i wonder when they'll be able to give a few uprankings.... its kinda pathetic how naruto could kick all the chunnin's butts but still only be a gennin.

and is bleach coming to a close? ive been meaning to stop reading it because the plot was kinda stupid, just fight fight fight with the real plot only appearing every odd chapter or so, but if its closing down i might just see it to the end

The sad part is that Kishimoto has created an awesome world that has a lot of potential plot-wise. It is a pity that he hasn't taken the opportunity to fully explore it. We barely know anything about the other communities, except leaf and sand. I hope that we can just get the Naruto rescuing his lover (yes I believe that) over with so the series can move forward. As for when it ends, well who knows? Personally, I hope it doesn't end for a looong time. Like I said, there is a whole world filled with different possibilities for adventure. Just look at the good (read: ignore the crap) fanfiction that has come out of it. There are infinite possibilities!

To be blunt, I think the disappointment among some is the lack of sex or fan-service. I never read this series with any expectations of romance, so perhaps that is what bothers so many? They had hoped Naruto would be all over Hinata or Sakura by now. Even with the shounen-ai undertones, I am glad that there is none of the mushy romance or oversexed ecchi crap in it. It's nice, for a change, to just have action/adventure/fantasy without the extra moe baggage that is oh so popular today.

Anyway, here's to many more years to come! 😎

Naruto Shitpooden is like the crappy filler Dragon Ball to Dragonball Z transition never had (and yes Goku is grown towards the end of Dragon Ball but he just kicked Piccolo's ass and ended the arc without being a douche bag like Naruto currently is).

Right now, its more about Sasuke than Naruto. Even though Naruto gets stronger, blah blah, and some useless characters (Asuma) + some cool ones (Jiraya) die, overall the whole plot is centered around Sasuke.

I just want this damn arc to be over already. Show Naruto's awesome/gay frog powers (I can't really decide... I have never thought of frogs as cool though), let him save Konoha, beat Akatsuki, and beat Sasuke into his supporting character role (ex. post Freeza arc Vegeta).

Once this dumb Sasuke centered plot expires, there is great things that Kishimoto could explore and I would really hate it if he doesn't take advantage of that.
Like some people previously stated:

• we haven't even seen much of the other countries outside of Konoha and that boring, dull sand village in the Wind Country. (I hope the rest of the villages are awesome like the cloud one).
• there is still awesome swords for Suigetsu to collect.
• more cool ninjutsu to see.
• again, it would be nice to see main characters wonder around and explore the Naruto-verse a bit after Konoha gets destroyed (please! do it Danzo!)
• there is still much that can be shown with flashbacks, either about Kakashi/Rin, or Minato and his awesome ninjutsu.

Anyway this post is getting out of hand.
My main point was supposed to be - Naruto could be SO much more than it is now...
just get rid of Konoha, kill Sasuke (ok at least lock him away in some alternate Sharingan universe), and have Naturo travel around with 8-tails rapper dude.

well aside from some points here and there, i ultimately agree with you on your thoughts. the manga has way to much to explore that this arc is letting on. so what if Akatsuki is almost finished, there's a whole world out there to explore in itself. we've only gotten a look really at two Country's Hidden Villages. there's like 3 more major ones too. plus their ninja's need some spot light too. i mean we have the Sand Siblings for Suna. why not see some of the same caliber from the other countries?

[1]I That would be cool; but after this they should scale down most opponents though.. It'd be an insult to previous characters such as the third hokage, orochimaru, akatsuki & such if after this even stronger characters appear out of nowhere..... that'd be total IMbalance in the narutoverse right ^^

Also I agree that atleast kabuto has to be dealt with.. when he appeared-disappeared, that 'final' encouter didn't cut it for me... and I don't think it'll be final. He'll be back as either minor-strong-allied-hostile-1appearance character.

Also let's not forget the subplot with Danzo that is going on ^^ Killing the messenger frog might not just purely be for akatsuki's sake ~

Hmm also I don't see the whole narutoverse ending without naruto being hokage & without naruto going all 9tails (controlled). I don't think konoha would let a genin be hokage so we still need to see Naruto's genin to jounin's progress. They could summarize this but that would be a waste. I remember reading in the manga that you need to be able to use at least 2 elements in order to be a jounin. So before naruto is a jounin we should also see the whole new elemental thingy. (Hurricane Chronicles) And I don't think naruto's new attack (he found while training with the frog) requires the new elemental already.
