Just started watching it again. Season 9 has restored my faith. ;-; I actually have some hope for the spin off they are planning!
This actually got better again? It gradually got worse after Season 5. Season 8 was so bad, I dropped it without a second thought.

Series that overstayed its welcome. Yup. Started good. Went bad post season 4. Kinda like Walking Dead post pilot episode.

Season 8 really was terrible so I had very low expectations... it's not like it could have gone downhill from there? <.< It has had some solid episodes! It's like they re-discovered what was it that made it a gem early on.
I only really watch it because of how much time I've invested in it already, honestly. XD

Nope, it is a TV series.
I stopped at season 5, my friends told me it was better to stop there... and think of that as the series finale, because the next seasons are only dragging it on... Is it really true? Should I give it a try again?

I watched the pilot episode several months back at the recommendation of I-no-longer-remember-who, and was thoroughly unimpressed. It all felt horribly contrived and not-funny. Cue long months of me forgetting it existed.
Then, alone and far, far from home on Christmas this year (living and working in Japan, w00t!) I rediscovered it over winter break and consumed every single episode over the course of a couple weeks. It was interesting enough for me to hold out for the payoff, and I was glad I did. I can't vouch for its quality, but it is ridiculously addicting. But, then again, I'm not a good judge of quality, since the main appeal of the show (for me) is all of the lovely-wonderful suffering the characters go through.
The Leviathan arc felt like the writers were trolling viewers for a whole freaking season. Thankfully, I consumed (no pun; really) the entire season in a couple days and moved on to better things. I would probably have dropped it and never come within a mile of it if I'd been forced to watch that season on a weekly basis.
The show has enough sense to make fun of itself. And everything (and everyone) else. It's entertaining, and the characters are compelling. Yeah, I think I'll stick it out for a while.
Don't make me regret it, Supernatural.

As far as I know, the show was supposed to end with season 5. However, as long as you can make money out of something........ yeah...
It's up to you, maybe you want to give it a try. But I'd agree with your friends on this, it's better to think of season 5 as the actual end and stop there.
