So I was going through Amazon checking the stats of ongoing series I own, and I see that NG Life volume 7, not only comes out till November, but it's gonna cost 12.99?!!!!

Comments?

I think that's kinda uh....at least for me that i'm broke and unemployed, the price hike was too steep...I mean they went from 9.99 to 10.99 and now 12.99...ouch
😲 🤢

Don't buy it as soon as it comes out.
Sometimes they fall in price. Especially on Amazon. Prices always change on that site.
So if you've got the patience to wait, you should. Having said that, there's always a case of it not falling in price at all...so you could just be waiting for nothing.
I guess it depends how badly you want it, and if your prepared to spend that amount of money on one volume of manga.

I don't buy manga licensed by Tokyopop myself. I always avoid it. Unless I really really like the series, but I haven't come across anything like that yet.

It doesn't surprise me, all the manga I've seen in B&N has been priced at that or higher. Amazon's usually cheaper, but...

Hey just imagine, I don't live in America, I live in Asia, they export Tokyopop manga overseas to my country. And guess how much more I have to pay in my currency after the exchange rate and shipment charges.

Boycott! I usually buy the japanese ones anyway...

For shame. I don't like Tokyopop much as it is.

I was kind of sad that they of all people got the great Hekai no AiON, given how much they like to delay releases, I was hoping YenPress woulda picked it up. 🙁

Sigh.

If you continue to buy it while it's that price, you're only justifying the price hikes for them.

Glad they aren't selling anything I like at the moment. I mean really Viz charges that for like the big ole ones. (Bankobon? I'm not good with words. Viz calls them Viz Bigs)

I normally only purchase manga on EBay, and sell it too. 😛 Or if I go to the store I go to borders and bring a coupon to save the $$. But I'm not surprised at all, they've been putting some good series on hiatus and it's always forever until a new release on a series. But yes, that is insane, good thing I didn't like tokyopop to begin with. :-)

Hrm. I'm not surprised with the price jump but.. I guess I'll be one of those people waiting even more months after the printed releases.

But well... They don't release the series that I like so... It'll be once in a blue moon that I make a Tokyopop purchase now.

When I first started buying manga most of mine were from tokyopop, but now most of the stuff I buy new is from viz. They kind of ticked me off, they canceled series and never finish them and still they haven't released volume 9 of Immortal Rain. I will buy there stuff when I see it at my local discount book store or if I know the series is finished.
I do the same thing that plumcrazy926 does, I go to borders and use coupons, because it seems like I always have a 30% to 40% coupon in my email.
Over all I can't diss tokyopop to much, they did get me into manga and released some of my favorite series.
