What I mean by that, is like the School of Water Business ( http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=1662 ). Although parts of it are obviously unrealistic, overall I learned a lot about the structure and basic nature of the Japanese night life, in any case.

That educational aspect was my main attraction to that series, though: I wouldn't have read SoWB without it. Oh yeah, Eden is an example of a really good manga which, although possibly unrealistic, also had a really interesting storyline to do with the protagonist's relationship with a prostitute in South America.

So are there any good manga like that which anyone could recommend? Which are not only good, but also educate you in ways that are interesting and are relevant to the world we're living in? I don't know if I described any of this right, but yeah.

Moyashimon

Never read the manga.. and saw only the first episode of the anime.. But I think it's pretty educational about microbes, etc.. 😃

Thanks, those are awesome suggestions, pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking (in fact, so much so that I'm following both of them already for the very reason). The other day I had a great conversation with someone about microbes. Did you know that they relatively recently discovered a microbe causes ulcers, which they used to just be explaining as just stress? And that eating dirt builds up your immune system? Anyway, good stuff.
