I'm just curious about what people think of hand-holding. I mean, in a romantic context.

Like, I'm a VERY tactile person, and I like to cuddle and be physically affectionate... But I can't stand hand-holding. I have no idea why this particular gesture irks me, but it does! I don't mind hand-holding if both people are stationary (like, just standing or sitting down), but when I see couples walking hand-in-hand, I just think... "No, that's not for me." I feel too constricted and there's this feeling of not having the freedom to walk as I want to - I don't know. I can't really explain my discomfiture with this otherwise very harmless and sweet affectionate gesture... Lol. It's not like it's the intimacy that bothers me, since other more physically constraining gestures (like hugs/cuddles) don't bother me at all. But then they're stationary gestures. It's more like... I just don't like having my freedom of movement controlled. Does that make any sense? It doesn't make any sense, does it... Or maybe there's some deep psychological meaning. 😛

Anyhow, what do you think? Also feel free to share other "affectionate gestures" or "romantic customs" that really irk you or just don't suit you. Like maybe cuddling - some people like cuddling (esp. after... er, intimate proceedings) and some don't. I love it, though! I also know this friend of mine that can't stand forehead-kissing... Lol. It's hilarious.

I wouldn't hold hands either. But I think that it would be completely understandable when you've just done/said something really romantic or had some really intense, romantic conversation about your relationship (figuring some stuff/problems out), and you're overflowing with so much love that you don't actually mind holding hands all fluffy-like just for once. 😮 On the streets, no less!

I think it depends on the mood. They obviously wouldn't hold hands if they were in a bad mood or something. So, they must have felt (super) content - some way - with how their relationship is going recently? And were just in a lovey-dovey mood, I guess? That happens.

Though if they do it all the time, then
something's wrong with them! >:-(

I hold hands a lot. Not really for the affection, I suppose. I find if I am not holding hands, I'll generally hold onto his sleeve or his arm or even collar. I just have this ingrained fear of being separated. 🤣

Girls like to link arms with me a lot though, that kind of annoys me.

I'm quite the opposite, actually. Holding hands is generally a no-go, it irritates me for whatever reason- I guess it just strikes me as childish. The arm-grab doesn't require overt action on my part so it's preferable.

i like holding hands. but i cant stand girls grabbing onto the arm. maybe its cuz of all the manga that i've that i am very conscious that their breasts might touch my hand :/

We don't do it excessively, but yes, Arawn and I do hold hands still, even though we've been married 5 years. We did it more while dating than we do now, but even just walking from the car into the grocery store, we'll still hold hands. There are also times when one of us wants to hold hands and the other doesn't. =)
