i'd probably watch it as it comes out, but only if i haven't read the manga recently. i enjoy stories less when i know exactly what's going to happen so i try to wait until i've forgotten most of the details to watch an anime for a manga i've already read or vice versa.

This pool lacked the options I would have voted for. Depends on how much I liked the manga. Any manga I loved I would watch the anime weekly for. If they made a series of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou I would watch it weekly (didn't really like the OVAs). While something like Evangel I doubt I would ever watch.
Mostly I don't watch series weekly though so I ended up voting for when the series is over, the normal way to watch for me.

If I see a new anime adaption of a manga I have read before coming out, usually I will watch an episode or two. After that...drop. If I get behind, then I will stay behind. This is out of personal preference though--I usually don't like to rewatch/read things. Anime typically just seems to be a rehash of what I have already read or not as detailed as I had imagined. It's the same with movie/book adaptions.
Though I do not like much filler material in animes, I will also say that they can be beneficial for fleshing out characters or making the anime into a different beast from the manga.
Example: Hunter x Hunter
I know many people enjoy the 2011 remake which follows the manga very closely. It may have some censored bits and
all together take out Kaito from the beginning... but other than that it follows the manga almost panel by panel. However, it doesn't feel like the Hunter x Hunter I've come to love...the original anime. The fillers gave characters greater dimension in the old anime compared to the new one. 2011 remake characters just fall flat to me. What drives Gon's motivation to find his father? Should I really care about all these other characters like I did in the original? ! especially when I know many will die in the future.. Filler episode arc in the hunter exam brought out some of the minor characters that are completely forgettable in the 2011 version.
Kurapika's fight with Hisoka, a couple of panels in the manga, was drawn out for a whole episode in the original. However, it was an important fight to introduce an upcoming arc...a fight that was glossed over (and forgettable) in the 2011 anime and the manga.
I will have to say that I love the Mushishi anime adaption. It has the music, animation, color, and the acting that brings the manga to life.

You forgot to mention the ones where the main character is a weak, pathetic, extremely perverted, jackass of a little boy. And for some reason every girl he meets falls in love with him enough to gain them a harem (and they seem to be the most popular girls around and such).

lol, ikr? Paragraphs, buddy, paragraphs.
If you dislike fan-service, maybe you should do away with the 'ecchi' tag instead of fapping to it then dissing the show, hypocritical idiots.
As for the poll, anime is usually too fast for me, but if I could watch more of something I thought was great, then that takes priority over rereading the same manga. I would usually take my time getting there, though.

Rarely. I usually only watch anime that wasn't originally a manga. Things based on Light Novels or just straight up originally anime.
Though I am watching Chihayafuru and the new Hunter X Hunter so what do I know.

I've always wondered why you'd bother watching the anime version if you know (or assume) that the manga version is better (assuming that the manga came first). It's the same exact stuff happening... just animated.
Several reasons besides that it moves:
You hear the voices
Colour
Music
And most of the time you don't remember what happens; so it's a nice revision.

yess i stressed on the music...if i had a choice between a completed manga and a completed anime adaptation that follows the manga word to word, i would definitely choose the anime because of the music, music is very important to me and it adds a lot to the story
