But is not fair that only MF is making profit of the free work of scanlators...... and not to mention the guilt i feel of reading scanlations and not buying the real mangas

I'm not seeing much of a problem here. If they're just using ads, that is. Bandwidth isn't free. If they were charging for membership, than I'd see the problem.

If you don't like it, use Firefox + Adblock.

as every1 above has already said. there is no problem with this. if u dont like it, dont use it. and almost every site out there which involves buffering/sharing has ads. YOUTUBE is a prime example of this. >.> anyway. if you dont like the ads, use scriptblocker or ad-block. as you can see there are simple alternatives. >.>

p.s. i recomend scriptblocker as it doesnt just stop ads it also stops things like rick-roll 😉 all you have to do to use it is click the symbol at the bottom and then go "allow website". not only that but u can allow certain sections of the site. e.g. the manga section of mangafox so u dont get ads.

I fail to see the problem... I mean, if it really bothers you, I suggest you boycott Google as well, as they do the same thing. : /

Oh... or wait... were they supposed to pull the money for their servers out of thin air with their japanime magic?

What Google and MangaFox do is completely different... Google is more akin to Manga-Updates. I understand that they need money to run the site, but their revenue far exceeds their costs. Maybe that would be fine if the scanlators themselves uploaded the releases, but most don't want their releases on MangaFox. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone else was profiting off of work you did.

  1. MF will not host manga hosted solely by the group that scanlated it, but if any group uses an external host or affiliate, we will host their manga as well.

So, if the scanlator does not want their scanlations on MF, then all they have to do is be consistent on that policy. They then need to make sure to let MF know that it's a no go.

Scanlation groups can also make it so that only certain people can upload their releases... http://forums.mangafox.com/showpost.php?p=712626&postcount=2
All they have to do is tell them.

As long as I don't have to pay anything, I don't really care. In my opinion, all websites have a right to make money.

Basically this.

The only thing that bothers me about MF is that sometimes their ads sends your firewall/anti-virus program into haywire.

Here. Exactly.

yeah i already knew this but this was not as annoying as those interactive ads and sound ads. i hate it when their ads enter my computer and mess up the anti-virus programs. MF shouldnt even have ads.

ugh... i hate mangafox. one of the ads on there gave me a virus a few months back.plus it lags like crazy on that site.

but its not worse than tazmo. they dont bother any of the readers and the only people who actually lose money are the people running the ads (usually vampire quizzes or iq stuff). it doesnt affect the readers in anyway.

mangafox in a big provider of scans for me, so i won't diss them. its not loike their forcing us to pay or anything, hell we're getting free scans, and their making money to keep providing those scans. i dont see a problem honestly, if you don't like 'em, don't read from 'em. Simple really

I don't see how it's different. Google provides a free service (search engine, email, everything.) and to use it, you must deal with ads. MangaFox provides a free service (online reading) and to use it, you must deal with ads. Most every site you go to that isn't paid for out of pocket or by donations is kept alive by money generated from ads, including sites like Google and Youtube. It's just reality.

Most scanlators (Correction: Most Shoujo Scanlators) don't want their projects hosted on sites like MangaFox, not because they care about the site making a profit off of something they are doing illegally, but because they want people to post on their forums for their own ego-boosting. And in fact, I can say for myself that my work is on MangaFox, and I don't care. As well, a lot of scanlators indeed even have their own accounts on MangaFox and upload their projects themselves.

To be honest, I rarely use MangaFox anymore, as I rarely even read manga, but I really can't stand people who complain about something they are getting for free.
