Gokusen Vs Great Teacher Onizuka
I searched for this topic even under each series, didnt find them so I though I would post this poll too.
When I started reading Gokusen, I found many reviewers comparing it to GTO which I had heard about but never read. I love Gokusen to bits enough to torture myself with the lame dorama (sorry, I feel the actress portraying YamKumi wasnt at par) and then recently went through the manga GTO and stayed wth it till the 10th volume. I couldnt find anything remarkable about it but thats just me, no offense to fans of GTO. so here's a way to find out which is more popular and well-liked.
Well, except the unorthodox teacher helping students seen as "delinquents", I don't see much in common. I enjoyed GTO until certain point, and had read Gokusen and consider it to be a good read. Though neither of them are big favorites for me.

i watched the animes of both of them......and neither really impressed me, they were both pretty overly repetitive......though they wore both funny at times, don't think neither are very good, but i wouldn't call them bad either.....so yeah, i guess you could say i dont like either of them......but i probably dislike gokusen more since it's has almost the same story but from a woman's perspective

gokusen is the favorite for me, although I like GTO a lot. I think maybe I prefer the humor in gokusen better and it is more to my taste. Plus I read gokusen way before I even looked at GTO 😀

When it comes to GTO both the Manga and Anime are pretty good. Although I prefer the Anime. When it comes to Gokusen...it's the Manga that wins hands down. It's quite possibly the funniest one I've ever read. I especially love when Shin has to put on a loincloth for a festival. The link is an example of what I'm talking about.

GTO by a landslide, gokusen was ok, just seemed like all the characters were the same rehashed shoujo stereotypes and way too episodic.

There are a few surface similarities, but overall....they're really pretty different from each other...
If I had to choose just one, I'd go with Gokusen, but I've got full sets of both manga on my shelves right now. 😀
