typically in manga or anime the main charecter USUALLY has an innocent touch to their personality, do you think that its a little over rated and tiring?

do you want more ruthless charecters without any hint of an innocent touch?

I'm not tired of it yet, but it does tend to get a little boring after a while if I feel it's too heavily emphasized. I tend to like characters with a little bit of dirt in their backgrounds or a hard to see personality. It makes the manga seem so much more fleshed out and real. Every now and then it's cool and I can stand, but I tend to hate that character so much more than everyone else. It always seems to get annoying after a few lines of dialogue. It can work with the right plot though.

If done properly, it's fine by me.

It just gets annoying when someone gets unreasonably "innocent" (retarded)

i prefer the ruthless
like raito-sama (i actually mean yagami light) and lelouch-sama^^
the innocent have to much doubt in their hearts, it´s even hard to kill for them -.-

This is probably why Light's character appealed to me.
There's absolutely nothing innocent about him, and I liked that. It was...refreshing to see the main character kinda ruthless.

I don't really mind though. I think it'd be boring if all the main characters would always have a hint of ruthlessness in them. Swapping the ruthless and innocence doesn't help anything. Mixture is the word here.

Exactly what I think.

I prefer flexible, adaptive characters over any static, immutable ideology or psyche. A character who learns from his/her mistakes or changes his/her tactics when confronted with different situations is much more interesting than a character who approaches every situation with the same mindset, whether that be innocence, ruthlessness, or anything else. That said, a good variety of static characters tied together with an interesting, coherent story can still be very enjoyable.

I guess the only innocent characters that really annoy me are those who relentlessly follow their philosophy without question or doubt despite it failing for them every time, because no reasonable person would do that.

these are good reasons why i like korean manga
i think korean manga has strayed away from the innocent main charecter trend

I like a little innocence, but not a complete unreasonable saint. Same to the "bad boy/girl" characters, I don't want them to have their lack of innocence overly emphasized either. Let's have dynamic, complex characters shall we? ;D

I like it when they have 'some' ..but it also disturbs me when a character has absolutely no morals at all...

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

i think the reason for innocent main charecters is because usually stories tend to be drama crazy
so the innocent perspective gives you the full effect of drama.

its also something interesting to contrast to, when an innocent charecter is surrounded by evil charecters or a outragous story

also its also so the youth can have something to relate to, the youth is supposed to resemble innocents or at least the ideal youth, so it can tend to attract people.

It's a matter of context. So many stories are coming of age, first love stories. Therefore, a degree of naievity and innocence are required to convey that particular experience.
