Just to make a clarifying statement of my own towards Snoopycool's comment (because he is very largely correct and obviously more experienced in this matter than I). It's true that you don't have to sacrifice quality for quantity, but I think it's also important to note that translators (and other group members) can actually have personal issues that may prevent them from working, they may be temporarily incapacitated or disinterested, etc. In other words, lack of general speed (rather than time spent translating) doesn't necessarily mean lack of translation quality either, which I think his statement partially implied, although probably unintentionally.

Now, obviously that reeks of either some organizational or motivational issues within the group, but from a purely general standpoint it shouldn't affect the quality of the product that they turn out. Whether or not that makes a good scanlation group is another question entirely though.

In any case, I apologize for the ranting, and stand by my statement that I'd rather stand by and wait for an experienced, skilled translator to find time to do work than to settle for an inexperienced one who just works quickly.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Quote from aneste

Same here.
🤢
One month It's ok for a chapter, and 2 or 3 months for a complete volume; but more of that; It's cruelty. 🤢

I prefer whatever quality, as long as it comes out fast. I'd like a nice better quality to come out after though.

I'm not really that obsessed with manga, so I don't care if a group decides to drop some good manga, and letting it rot for a long time. It's a free service that I'm profiting of anyways, so who am I to oblige them to keep scanlating. Besides, there are plenty of manga around, and other life things to occupy you with.

Chill~ 🤣

So yeah, I don't mind waiting at all. When it comes, it comes.

Erm... Something like fast releases... Less spelling errors... Effects translated... Otaku terms translated... Nice quaility... Stuff like that ^^'

Weekly if it's a weekly manga and monthly if it's a monthly manga. For quality, if it's cleaned nicely and the translations are correct and there's a clear effort, then that's good enough for me. The thing I hate though is when manga is dropped. It's like the scanlating group is giving you a taste and then snatching it away until some other person finds you and others with withdrawal symptoms. But eh, it's a free service so I can't really gripe.

I prefer quick releases, always.

I also prefer finding a series after it's been already mostly scanlated; if I find series when only a few chapters are out, it's likely I'll fall behind when more scans do come out. The story also feels more convoluted when you read the last chapter a month ago, which I hate, and it's a pain to download the last three chapters all over again just to remember what happened.

Shaken, not stirred.

And I guess I enjoy it the most when I get to read a large batch all at once.
