This week's poll is again from 8-3. Have you ever read manga while drinking alcohol? I've never even considered this because I don't drink that much...

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Should names of food be translated?
Choices:
No, translate none of them - votes: 2505 (41.4%)
Yes, all of them (e.g. "takoyaki" to "octopus balls") - votes: 338 (5.6%)
Only the uncommon ones (e.g. leave "takoyaki" alone but translate "kiritanpo") - votes: 3212 (53%)
There were 6055 total votes.
The poll ended: February 3rd 2018

In case you were wondering, I purposefully didn't have an option dealing with translation notes

Huh, the amount of people who don't drink is quite high here mmm...
Is it because of age restriction, prohibition by religion or anything else mmm...~?

But well, it's still just rolling, will see the end result mmm...

Well I've had alcohol and read some manga but it did not feel any different to me. Though I have to say this poll is pretty vague because drinking can also apply to non alcoholic beverages as the poll is stated at the voting part. The only way drinking and reading manga would be annoying for me is when reading manga in physical form instead of digital 😀 .

Which is why I didn't vote because any opinion about translation that discards TL notes is invalid and irrelevant.

I am assuming drink here refers to drinking an alcoholic type of beverages then my answer is no. Never drink one and possibly ever. My belief, sue me

I don't really see why you would drink alcohol while reading manga, but my father drank beer while watching tv... still, I rarely drink. I had a bottle of white wine in my fridge for a long time and in the end I gave it away when I moved out. Last Christmas they gave me "Christmas" German beer and it still sits on my fridge. I drink with people, but I've never drank alcohol alone.

I never drank alcohol while reading manga and probably never will (at least if I'm not in the company of one of my idiot friends.)

Yes, but it made no difference, as i have read comics while being drunk once or twice i would say. But that wasn´t on purpose. I just continued my day after drinking alcohol.

Made no difference, although I've only ever tried it on series I've already liked so that's one factor. I probably won't try to drink when picking up something new because I wanna read it with a clear head especially since the first few volumes are the most impressionable.

I don't drink, so no.

That should be our next poll. I don't have a particular reason for not drinking, I've just never liked it.

Well i don't drink so much that i would get very drunk... So it doesn't make any difference really if i drank before/while reading manga.

No, and I am not interested in trying. Even if I might have, it's not a significant feat to remember anyway.
I'm kinda party guy, so I hardly ever drank alone. Plus I'm not much of a drinker anyway (I tend to keep the limit in check between 500-750ml (not talking about beer, mead etc here) on your average season). I hate hungover as well you see, my body doesn't suit drinking I guess. Having lessen the amount of these occasions by these few years, I may quit drinking altogether. It holds no meaning/affecting to me anyway.

As for Reading Under Influence (RUI lol), Tried only Weed and Vodka (my choice of drink on the mainstream catalogue). Haven't ever read any fiction under influence, but I did study (academic) before. Weed does help you concentrating at times (considering you did a moderate amount), unless you're on Indica. Drinking is no help at all, it may even backfire.

Watching movies, TV series, stand-up comedy, funny clips and whatnot etc is always fun under influence, more so when you're with a group of people, friends for example.

I've only tried reading with a hangover. It was unpleasant. But then, everything is unpleasant when you're hung over.

Maybe add drinking alcohol to the question. Non-fluent English speakers and youngsters might not know what's meant by "drinking."
