I always was curious why they're called dragonslayers when they don't actually kill dragons, but I'm seeing some serious fighting coming as everyone who were raised by dragons are usually incredibly powerful. I find it hard to believe that those guys would be able to kill dragons at a very young age. I mean if the dragons disappeared in 777 and Natsu was still a child and now its something like 14 years later and these guys are still young, no way they would've been good enough to kill a real dragon, at what, 5 years old?
So unless there are other dragons that appeared after year 777 that trained these guys I think we'll find out some kind of reasoning of them not being real dragonslayers.

I know this is not really saying much and it may be completely irrelevant, but you also got to take into account that they're supposedly called the "Third Generation" dragon slayer which was a mix of actual dragon training and lacrima. So it could be that by having the lacrima it gave them a "boost" in power and they become powerful enough to kill a dragon at a young age.

Now I am very curious about how Natsu is going to defeat these "true" dragonslayers. It seems like he doesn't stand a chance against them.

If they are third generation dragon slayers what does that make Natsu who technically is now a fire and lightning dragon slayer. No doubt that combination and a ton of heart will outstrip these third generations.
Also I have a feeling these third generations slayers are lying. One neither seems to be over 17ish though the age of dragon slayers so far has been questionable considering Natsu's profile allows has and unknown for age and I think the same goes for Gajeel. But if they are the age they appear then they would have been like 3 in 777. Considering that we are led to believe that all the dragons disappeared (though Aconolgia (sp) puts this theory in question) in 777 they would have had to kill their dragon in before 777 if they are telling the truth. I think they are lying. Either they are not true dragon slayers or they did not kill their dragons. I think once their type of dragon slayer magic is revealed we might get a better idea of which.
The existence of Sabertooth is questionable as well. Something feels fishy about their guild.
It's too bad Gajeel was around to be in the competition but I think this competition is going to go the way that those in Dragon Ball Z generally went.

or could have just been that they were sparring with their dragon. Dragon remembers the time "OH Shi..!. Its 777, gotta go". Then just vanishes while the two kids think they destroyed the dragon. 🤣
