Didn't see this topic anywhere so thought I'll ask.
What was the first yaoi you've ever read?! Was that what got you hooked up with yaoi?! How'd you think about yaoi and gay people before you read any?!

For me, the first yaoi was Totally Captivated and yes, It was what got me hooked onto this genre. Well to be honest I had gay friends beforehand and some of them are really great guys so I didn't exactly have any problems with gays, the yaoi genre never crossed my way and I didn't even think of reading them until one of my friends introduced this one to me and since we share similar tastes in manga I gave it a try and I loved it. 😀

My first yaoi was Shounen Zanzou when I was 13 years old, but the story was messed up and dark, I got scared and didn't look for more yaoi mangas. 🤣 Then, 3 years ago, I started with shounen-ai, Seven Days and stuff. The first yaoi I can remember after that was Little Butterfly, it really hooked me up into this genre.
About how I thought about gay people, it was very different. I never considered it's really tough liking someone from the same sex and that it really takes courage to confess or come out to your family. I respected gay couples, but never thought things like "cute" or "beautiful" like I think today. 🙂

My first yaoi was Totally Captivated my husband (my boyfriend at this time) was stationed in Seoul, South Korea and he messaged me asking me if I knew anything about "yaoi" since I was so into anime. I told him no, and he said some of his Korean friends had girlfriends that were really into it. My best friend is gay and I asked him about it and he recommended Totally Captivated (he had never read it before bc he isn't into yaoi, but this is the one some of his friends have read). Needless to say, that was the start of my yaoi addiction (I have now been reading yaoi for 5 years). It is even better to know that my husband knows about it and he is totally okay with it.... even though he won't read any lol! My first Shounen-Ai was Loveless.

Um....I have NO idea, but I know it started when I was about 12 or so. I wasn't sure at first, thinking I was much too young and thinking I was sick to like it, but now I am a total yaoi fangirl :3 I thought I was weird to like it, until I looked it up and it appeared that most people started at that age and BEFORE, and that it wasn't weird at all :3 I think I had gone through almost all the anime I could find under that genre( yeah, I had a lot of time), then went to manga thinking "ah, what the heck!". I found it much better than anime, actually, cause the voices to me were just annoying, and i could make em' sound however I wanted with imaginaton >:3 I'll come back if I xan remeber my first, though, since I've gone through SO much! 😎

I have no idea what was my first. I just know it was a smutty oneshot and it didn't get me hooked into yaoi from reading it, but I wasn't turned off by it either, just indifferent. It wasn't until I ran out things to read did I venture into the yaoi genre more and found some great treasures 😀 .

Yeah, I am the same way. Since my best friend is gay I asked him if he was the Uke or the Seme, and he told me that normally in a gay relationship they are all what we refer to as seke, he said in only one relationship was he a dominant bottom and that was just because the guy he was with wasn't use to bottoming. And is it just me or are MOST gay guys hot or what? lol

I know right?!!! I met this Guy with super cute face and a totally hot bod, turned out to be gay! I was like why?!!! That's the cutest guy I ever found in the campus and he can't even be bi?! I actually wanted to ask him if he's uke or seme too but then I'm like we've just known each other for two months so maybe it's a little too early 😀 and I'm a really straight forward person and just talk whatever's on my mind so 😛
the curiosity is killing me though. I can't even tell, cause like he has a cute face but he's really tall, so I'm like which one are you 😕 I'm like staring at him imagining weird things! Yaoi's turned me into a freak 😀

the first yaoi i had read was ai to yokubou wa gakuen de when i was 13. i supported gay couples before that, just not as much as right now. it didn't get me hooked to yaoi but it's the reason why i occasionally read yaoi afterwords. i think the yaoi that actually got me hooked was loveless which is technically not even yaoi. but yea, now i basically only read yaoi. i'm kinda running out of things to read so i switch between yaoi and other manga that i like. and yes, a lot of gay people seem to be really hot!

I want to say my first stand alone yaoi was Gravitation (like a lot of people) but the first time I was exposed to it was a sidestory in Hana Kimi 😛 It got me hooked. Consequently the first anime version of a yaoi I saw was Enzai and as soon as I knew what was going on I turned it off imedietly; almost scarred me for life (I was like... 12?)

Me too! With the school doctor, right? I forgot about it until I re-read HanaKimi 2 days ago. I was like "ooohhh, that's way I searched for some shounen-ai mangas later on".
