I'm neither a psychotherapist nor a visitor. Out of curiosity. Are there any specialists among site members? Is it really common for Americans? And what is your opinion on this subject in general.
P.S. I think internet helps to save a lot of money)

True, it does.
You can find people who'd listen with genuine (maybe) interest, and not be forced to chat with some stranger~
But it doesn't have to cost money. At least here it doesn't.
No idea about Americans, but I used to lol with my father that they all see shrinks. (that was the impression we got from movies,,,)
I don't attend any. My life is fucked up, so one would probably say I should.
But lol. No thanks. I'd better send the route of my life's evil to be ashamed.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

I did when I was a teen. It didn't help much, I was told the exact same things that I had come up with on my own, to make my life better.
I'm considering trying again, some things have become slightly more difficult to deal with, but I doubt that I will.
Yeah, several. It didn't really help :/
But that might be because I wasn't open to getting help.
No I've never seen a psycotherapist, don't see much point, they probably won't be any help to me anyway.

I was referred to a therapist for no good reason. He couldn't find one either but:
I find it rather unprofessional to slam yourself over the table toward your patient and start screaming. I think he was the one who needed psychotherapy, poor thing...
...I haven't seen a shrink since.
Nop, have been told to go to, but I don't think it would work for me.

I've gone most of my life, sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't, its situational.

I know a few psychotherapist out of family acquaintances, but all of them say it would be of no use for me to go to any psychotherapist cause they won't be able to figure out what's wrong with me... they say I'm just to damn bizarre...
No wonder, I can't control my handwriting and it changes every six months on it's own... 😐

Never needed a psychotherapist so far, and I'll never need one for the future. I just ask advice about a problem from friends and family.

I've never felt the need to see one, but I wouldn't count it out. Nothing wrong with going to see one at all (although my brother doesn't believe me and refuses to go).
