got nothing against gay people, nor them getting married...
what i'm not so sure about is allowing gay couples adopting children...not that they can't raise children properly, more like kid getting beat up in school for having two daddies...

No... That kind of behavior is not tolerated.
And you better keep a low profile for a while. I kinda keep stumbling on you in every thread I have something to complain about. And you're usually NOT the voice of reason.

actually the church can only prevent ppl partaking in holy matrimony and only christian holy at that while other religions can do as they like irrespective of what the church says
oh you probably need to put a stake in the heart of this thread decapitate stuff a clove of garlic in its mouth and put the head between its legs as well as burn it, just to be sure

I said Holy Matrimony, didn't I? Holy Matrimony being a religious ceremony joining two people together. When I said church, I was referring not to a specific church (if I was, it would have been capitalized), but to the church in which a marriage ceremony is held. It is solely up to the church to decide who gets married under the eyes of God, and who doesn't.

it seems to me the more anti-gay u are, the more likely u'll end up with a gay person in ur family.

I personally find the hole debate over this rather funny and really a lot disturbing. What I find funny is that people even get up in arms about it. I mean it's not like homosexual couples are going to drag you out of your house at gun point and make you watch their wedding. Or even that they are going to flaunt it to everyone they meet that they are married to someone of the same sex.
What is disturbing is that politicians use this debate to create media blackouts of important issues. They rally this strange obsession over something that doesn't effect the running of the government because they don't want people taking about the issues that are really important, like budget, economy, corruption, etc.
Ultimately I don't think it is the place of a governing body to determine whether or not someone has the right to marry someone else regardless of of gender or orientation. It is not something that effects how the government is run, or how the government spends it money. All it is for politicians is a convenient distraction to the real issues.
Oh and all you Christian fundamentalists out there. How would you like it if we got it your face about who you marry or your faith. Faith is a personal thing, and if someone does not want to follow the teachings and ideals you embrace, then hey it's no sweat off of your brow, and also, by your teaching God is the only one with the right to judge others. It's amazing what you find in the Bible, you all should try reading it.

Just wanted to point out the fact that atheists get married. Just putting it out there. So about marriage being a religious thing in its entirety, not happening, so by that same token same-sex marriage ok? If you wanna be politically correct about it.
A few years ago, I read that teens today poll as mostly conservative, excepting the same sex marriage. I have full confidence that gay couples will be able to be married in a sizable portion of the US in 10 years, especially now that the Supreme Court has deemed it unconstitutional to ban gay marriage.
Edit: In short, hell yeah.

20 years ago, they were having this same discussion except it was about interracial marriages. im curious about what the issue would be about 20 years from now when gay marriage IS acceptable. It's still illegal to have sex with a porcupine in florida.

This is also on the lists of things I don't care about. The government has no right to prevent anyone from partaking in Holy Matrimony, but the church does. If they want to get legal marriages, I couldn't care less. It effects me in no way, shape, or form.
Quoted because it seems people are misconstruing my words.

I see no reason why secular institutions such as the government, etc do not allow gay couples to marry. Gay couples have just as much right to enjoy the same protections and benefits that comes with being legally married that straight couples do. Religious institutions, however, need to base their decisions on whether or not to recognize gay couples on whatever scripture they follow.
But you know, scripture interpretation follows the times, just like everything else. All you have to do is read some histories of religion to pick up on that fact. If 100 years from mainstream religious groups accept gay couples, I wouldn't be surprised.
But anyway, yes, I'm all for gay marriage. Woowho! 😃

Alright, first of all, think about if YOU were a homosexual, and you are in love with the perfect partner. Wouldn't it be nice if you two could get married and be able to say, "We are married," not just, "We are lovers," ? No one can help who they fall in love with. My mother thinks that it is fine for two people of the same sex to date, but to get married is too "abnormal." I COMPLETELY disagree. No one on this earth really has the right to judge what is "normal" and what it "abnormal." Even though I am straight, I still do not like to think that not everyone has the right to marry who they choose. Basically, I STRONGLY encourage allowing same sex marriages.
(Finished with my rant. It is just that I am a strong believer that same sex marriages are perfectly fine and no one should try to stop two people from being together, despite gender. ^^)
