Hellsing might be cool in live action.
Glados is a bitch. She made me kill the companion cube, the only friend I'll ever have. 😢

Well, Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Mimic, Cronos) was trying to get the rights to Domu, so I think that'd be pretty awesome. He'd be the only person who could direct Otomo's masterpiece.

20th Century Boys and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni because they're actually getting them? (Monster is as well, if memory serves)
Solanin also seems like it could be pretty good. Doubt as well, the way it's going right now.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Now that I think about it none of them, japanese actors cannot play manga characters, they have small eyes, and different faces and all of that, that is the main reason why I dont watch live action movies from any manga, it pisses me off to see some guy/girl take the role of some manga character and they dont even look like them

Urusawa Naoki's epic masterpieces being made into movies? Both series were pretty lengthy, so it's bound to piss some people off but cutting something important from the final versions. Not to mention what else could go horribly wrong, such as appropriate casting and imitating the feel of both series given by the art and stories themselves. I'm already having my doubts about Monster, since it's going straight into an english version live movie (a prejudice formed by lots of bad movie adaptations of written media). Wouldn't stop me from seeing them though. Solanin would be cool and very doable, possibly done by an Independent film maker.
A couple of interesting live action tv series or movies would be Jiraishin and Sanctuary. Both might have to be changed into a contemporary setting, but it could be done.

yea __ I second that. Genshiken would be an awesum drama about the otaku world.
They've alredi brought in some otaku elements in Densha Otoko, but it's just showing one side of the anime/manga fab.

oh live action NHK ni youkoso! would also be good.
may hit a little too close to home for some though.
Seconded. the anime kinda hit to close for me, with the difference that my fridge isn't that friendly...
Could still be a kickass movie though.
But i still think anime and manga should stay animated. Special effects are expensive, there are few good japanese actors, and the bigger the budget, the more people will want to change stuff to fit a bigger crowd.
