Double strong ice coffee, not espresso (all the caffeine gets burnt out or something and americanos just don't taste pleasant) with sugar free mint syrup. The cold, caffeine and bad aftertaste help you stay up.
Also calling a friend who you know will stay up as well and studying on the phone together sounds like a good idea, but you'll just end up talking about zombies and pencils and whatnot (not to mention pissing off everyone else in both households). From experience, typing notes on a bright computer screen is a better way to study b/c you're actively trying to remember everything and jot it down. And bright computer screens make me want to stay up for some reason.
Don't push it too hard though, staying up to study while sleepy will just result in forgetting the last four hours of consciousness in that day+make me really adhd the next day. Can always try waking up early and doing more work then.

On a semi-related note, staying up too late typing on a computer will rot the area surrounding the eyes. Seriously, I've got this strange dark brown shadow on the sides of my eyes, it looks like makeup but it's not; it's kinda creepy, it looks like a healing bruise.

How to keep going for another hour? Bwahaha

  1. Get preoccupied with something. A movie, a TV show, a drama, a manga, an anime, and bam, by the time you know it, it's 3AM and you have school in 5 hours. Do this and you won't even need coffee or an energy drink.

I don't know any tips, I just have a natural ability to do so, I think it's called insomnia or something.

just stay strong. if you can't take it anymore, sleep 30 minutes (while sitting, it helps to wake up) after waking up, stand up, get some drinks and get to work again. repeat it again after 2 hours or when you're too tired.

some people that i know only sleeps this way, never on the bed

It's so bad to stay up late, but it's my fault for procrastinating.

Things that I do --

  1. If I can't focus, I take a shower to "refresh" myself.

  2. Orange juice, please. Anything citrus is good for a while.

  3. Work at a desk with LOTS of lighting... Abnormally white (fluorescent) light (which isn't like sunlight) makes me stay up.

  4. Vietnamese coffee (especially from Lee's Sandwiches) (that's right. French roast with condensed milk.) -- this makes Starbucks' Americano with no water seems weaksauce.

  5. Because I'm so tired and my heart is palpitating out of my chest due to the coffee, I attempt to take a 30 minute nap -- which is more like a 30 minute failed attempt at a nap b/c the caffeine from the Vietnamese coffee is making me wish I didn't drink it in the first place, so out of anger, I get up and continue working on that cursed paper or project I procrastinated on for so long.

If you managed to do the "power nap" correctly (I've done it by accident/luck twice in my life) -- CONGRATULATIONS. I think my power naps were around 20 minutes...

Coffee does it for me, but with me, it has other side effects, so I don't drink it anymore.

I usually end up staying up longer if I working on something, though it usually happens when I'm editing images.

I used to have problems with insomnia, I once went about a week without sleep, though I can't be sure exactly how long, since things made so little sense. I guess lack of sleep makes you go a bit crazy.

Energy drinks.

Especially the supermarket brands. The shitty stuff.
One can had me up until 3.30 - 4am. I had it around 8pm. I could have had another can if I wanted to go on, but a lot happened that night that distracted me from working (our kitchen got trashed by a flat party =___=) so I was like eh, sleep.

Obsession is my poison of choice. If I have something to do, I'll work on it to the point of collapse. When GTA 3 first came out, I didn't sleep for four days. I've matured though. One all nighter is about all I can withstand now. 🤢

  1. walk to the mirror and talk to myself alone
  2. busy yourself with something unimportant like fixing the position of hanger in my closet or arranged my clothes according to colours
  3. grab some snack
  4. make myself an instant noodle..
  5. drink hot tea (or coffee)
  6. take a simple walk around my house (careful not to suspect as a burglar)
7.close your eyes for a couple of minutes (this one has to really depend on some people. there are the types that fall asleep as they close their eyes. but to me, i can deal with it)

Energy drinks.

This.
Energy drinks have never failed me - even the time when I was working on my major project and drank way over the daily limit and felt sick for half the next day...
Still got the job done 😎

Is that the only side effect? How do you describe the sick feeling? Stomachache/headache?
I heard they are very effective but also addictive because of the caffeine. I would probably need to use them in the future.

Just nausea, really.

Oh, and I guess they're pretty addictive.
