You go to a bookstore to buy pens? 🤣 I buy these magnetic cat bookmarker thingies~they're so cute!
I usually just look at the "on sale" stuff, and if I want something, I'll borrow it at the library or get it online.

I'd go to Chapters and read manga there for hours. Also I was lucky that my highschool library had mangas. Unfortunately my university library doesn't. 😢

I've trolled the kiddy section before. Like looking at the books I've read or even some ones I haven't.. So much easier to read now.. Also like looking at the I-Spy books... I feel immature saying that..
me too! LOL
I never knew that you're suppose to look for the stuff written in the sentences... I just look randomly 😃

I like looking at the kiddy section too, even the picture books. Some are really, really good. 😃
Well, a year or so ago I would casually walk through the science fiction/fantasy section, casually glance over at the manga section to make sure nobody was there. Then slowly walk up to the bookshelves, oh look! whats this! browse the manga section playing the part of a curious bystander. Of course if anyone walked past I'd have to realise that i was in the wrong place and casually walk off.
I don't really get embarrassed anymore though, but its fun to see other people get embarrassed xD
Saying that though, I still can't buy a manga without an awkward smile at the cashier >_<
Pre-manga, the only thing i really read were fantasy books, I never visited book stores much, I still don't now.

i try to stay 40 feet away from the manga section XD. cause i will spend money useless money ><
if i ever do...its for the coffee and cookies (^^ i love the starbuck's idea to go barns noble) or music...cause they sometimes might have surprisingly good old school stuff...cheap XD

As soon as I get to the mall, I practically run to the bookstore, and as soon as I get to the bookstore, I practically run to the manga section 😛
Most of the time I'll stay in that section for half an hour or so till my ride comes to get me, but occasionally I'll check the Adult Romance section (for Janet Evanovich books :3) or the Young Adult section (for books like Rainbow Boys!!!) 🙂

The only bookstore in our mall is a small Waldenbooks; I head straight for the manga (anything else I want, I have a 99% chance of finding used). I only go there when there's a "buy 3 get 1 free" sale, or I have a good coupon, or something like that, though their selection isn't great & fairly often there's nothing there I want to buy.
Hastings - my boys head for the PS2/X-Box games, I go straight to the manga. Again, small selection, and I rarely buy anything unless there's a good sale, but it keeps me busy for a few minutes while my boys look at games.
Barnes & Noble - small store with a pathetically small manga section, the only time I go to B&N is when a book I've had them order has come in.
Two local second hand bookstores - one has no manga at all, so I go for the Japanese language section (I've found some fun stuff there, even though I can't read most of it yet). The other second hand bookstore, I check the Japanese language section & the manga section. Now & then I'll check the romance section in both second hand bookstores, and my kids check the young adult, sci-fi, and mystery sections.
Most of my manga buying is done online, at amazon.com or rightstuf.com, and most of my book buying lately is manga.... 😃 Our house is kind of overloaded with books (and cats, but that's a different topic! 🤣 ).

I only really go to 2 bookstores regulary, Kaufhaus Dussman and Modern Graphics.
When in Dussman ( which is a very nice big cd/DVD/Book store ) i normally check there english selection of SciFi/Fantasy. Then the comic section.
Modern Graphiys is a great comic book shop with everything from american superman over manga to german underground. I normally don't leave there in less than a hour.
But all in all i think manga sectios are pretty boring, we mangaupdates people are almost always way ahead of what is getting printed. Though there are exceptions.
P.S. this year i have been in the US and the UK and was shocked at the high manga prices.

Yeah, the prices are crazy here in the UK, even more than the US last time i compared the same manga. Online buying is the best feasible way to go now >_<

I used to hit Manga first, but now I hit the teen fantasy aisle. But that's because my Mom is normally with me and wants me to help her find books. After that, straight to the adult section.
I go away and suddenly the spammers are the mods. Okay, I can adjust to that, but... Gorath?! And what's up with Mam's not being the top poster?

i just remember way back when i was a wee lad i used to always look through the bargain books section then afterwards go straight to the magazine rack. nowadays if i go to a bookstore it's cause i'm looking specifically for a certain book. just go straight in and out. and i'm a lil too old to hang around the isles reading manga... :/ and i guess if i'm in a used bookstore i go straight to fantasy or fiction section. used bookstore near my house closed down like a month or two ago though :/ but yeah do most of my book shopping through amazon now. used books ftw.
why back in the day we didn't 'download', we had to swim to japan if we wanted fresh anime and that was only if...
