Agreed, "just one more chapter/episode..."

Half my friends don't even know how much I'm into it or that I'm constantly thinking about it. It sucks cuz I don't know that many people to talk to about it

That sounds about right, I don't know anyone irl that shares my manga hobby, just a few people who like anime. Nobody to appriciate my lame manga/anime jokes T_T

Actually, there is one person who I can let it all out with, which is fun, but I always get the impression that everyone else I meet who likes anime/manga isn't as big a fan as I am, so I will just end up looking silly. :\

Well, i take school and studies over animanga so yes it's a hobby. But it is also so obsessive that i have to read one manga each day.. as for anime i don't know, depends on occasions so it's a hobby.

It likes stress-release medicine to me, kind of relaxing whenever I read it. Too bad that many friends of mine don't understand it.

I'm not hardcore, but I've collected a lot over the years, even with a hiatus of not reading manga/manhwa for at least a year.

I understand how you feel. Every single one of my irl friends cannot stand anime/manga/Jrock. Even if I wanted to discuss a series/band/song/album/etc with them I wouldn't be able to since they'd have absolutely no idea what on earth I was talking about, nor would they care.

🙂 My online friends are a completely different story though. Through livejournal I was able to meet so, so many people that love the same series that I love.

I've gotten to the point where it's becoming a nuisance to my friends X.x

I limit myself to one book a week, thanks to high prices and the distinct lack of choice around here, but I frequently find myself reading my favorite series over and over. Once I get hold of a particularly good volume, I simply cannot stop reading until I've hit the last page.

I'd say I'm somewhere between it being no more than a hobby and finding myself utterly obsessed. I'm leaning towards the latter, of course 😉

At first it was just a fun watching a couple of episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.

But now my interest in Anime and Manga is at it's top, this also means i have a constant need to talk anime or manga to someone.

So i converted my friends, well half of em now are anime fans, 1 is getting a bit hardcore on Anime and im gonna shove manga over t him when he realizes that he cant see the end of Suzuka without reading it.

We can say i'm obsessed, especially when i was in boot camp, there was no nothing and i missed Shana & Nagisa intensly.

Hmmm it's more like a hobby, although when it comes to the point that some series 'grabs me' I'm reading for the whole night, after work, after classes until it ends....so on the second thought it's more like addiction than hobby 😀

I guess none of the options there apply to me. Since to me Manga is simply the most entertaining thing I have currently come across.

I guess you can say its closest to a cross between the first two options.

I went...2 weeks without my internet and you know what I did? Spent over $100 at chapters just on manga.

They were all crappy shoujo cliche manga too...But I just needed SOMETHING that was close to manga.

THAT'S how far it gets to me.

For the most part it's just a hobby, although every once in a while I'll relapse into the "Food and Water" mode. It usually takes something big or especially interesting to pull my attention away from other things and to devote it all to anime/manga.

Case in point: my local anime/manga store had a big sale over the holidays, with additional price cuts on top of already discounted prices, earning store credit, and free gifts. I ended up buying some 100 volumes of manga...in only two days.

Do I regret it? Of course not, but I definetely don't want to do it again.
