Salsa? Bachata? Reggaeton? Banda? Norteño? Duranguense? Cumbia? Etc...
If you're into Spanish music, who's your favorite Hispanic singer/band? Who turned you on to Latin American music? What genres do you listen to?
If you don't listen to Spanish music why not? Have you ever heard of the genres I've listed?
(IDK, this is my first contributing thread to MU. 😃 )

Zoe, Belanova, Panda, Gotan Project (think they're from Argentina....??), La Oreja de van Gogh (old stuff of course)....don't care much for the genres, but I've noticed that I enjoy fusion groups like Gotan Project and Zoe 😀

Reggaeton is the scourge of music.
I love Salsa, Bolero's and other various forms of hispanic music.

Yeah.... some of it's very good, although I ain't to knowledgeable about their genres and sub-genres.
I'm into Balearic stuff, mostly.
Spanish lounge/chill-out music, the type they play in Ibiza (Cafe del Mar) is one of my favourite genres for relaxation/sleep.
Also enjoy Paco Fernandez (flamenco).

Gotan Project is great!
My friend who's from South America is very much into Reggaeton. We sometimes dance to it when goofing around 🙂

I am italian and I listen to Laura Pausini's italian songs all the time, and after some time she has influenced me to listen to her Spanish versions of her songs too. She isn't Spanish but she is a multi-linguist. Well anyways I like her music!

I'm hispanic and I dislike spanish music...tho I used to be into pop and ballads because of the lyrics, but as music went forward unto becoming what it is now it made me disappointed.
Reggaeton simply sucks...no lyrics and a repetitive beat...just listen to Daddy Yankee and you'll understand...
I have heard the other genres you listed, but all of them suck to the point where you wouldn't want to listen to them after the first time you hear them. =____=;;

This is the first time I've heard about Gotan Project. (I feel stupid now. 😛 )
Laura Pausini is awsome. xD
I can't stand Banda/Norteño/ and most Duranguense music.
But I grew up listening to Bossa nova and cumbia so I'm more into that. Reggaeton is okay to dance to at parties but perreo is 😲
Bachata is also fun to dance since it's easy.
And I love Celia Cruz~

Don't feel dumb....they weren't really known until now. If you want to listen to them I recommend listening to "Mi Confesion", "Epoca", and "Queremos Paz"....."Last Tango in Paris" is pretty good as well.

I don't listen to spanish music. But I've heard some salsa and it was very catchy and fun. I'll try to listen to more spanish music.

i disagree with you. i'm very proud of the spanish music. maybe not with reggeton, but with other great bands that make exelent music, like cafe tacuba, illya kuyaki and the valderramas or even los tres. cumbia and salsa are nice rithym to dance too...
(p.s: i'm speaking for south american music, tough)

I love the Colombian Latin Rock singer Juanes. I actually bought a couple of his CDs (a very rare and unusual act for someone as cheap as I am). My Spanish teacher made us listen to one of his songs (Camisa Negra); it wouldn't leave my head so I downloaded it and afterwards started liking more and more of his songs to the point I had an urge to buy his CDs (I bought two but was too cheap to buy more, the rest are on my Christmas list).

Well, maybe you are kind of right, but I wouldn't go all fan-crazed about them.
I don't know about cumbia, but to me salsa only has the same repetitive steps to dance with so maybe it's not such a great music. .__.
