For people who have the same avatar for a long time, I do (kind of) picture them as their avatar. People who change avatars a lot, I have a lot more trouble remembering what they've posted in the past. (_)

To the extent that avatars & sigs represent that person's personality, for example a sig quote that I find utterly moronic, yeah, they to affect how I view a member. 🤣 I don't really make judgments about people based on how "pretty" or something their avatar is, tho.

I tend to remember people by avatars/sigs not by names so... its a pain when people change it alot 🙂

Not really...I know what my close online friends look like irl, so once you know that, avatars don't really matter.

Sometimes I do without realizing it at first but that usually happens with members who don't change their avatars often. We've all mistaken at least one person's gender because of his or her avatar, right?

i usually remember people by avatar and not really username but i cant really imagine any avatar as the person themselve

Same here but I can't stick names w/ their avatars even though I know both... But it doesn't really have any effect on me if you're considering what I think of them as. I guess I can find who likes what manga/anime kinda lol

I change it enough to be a problem for people.

I've been mistaken for a girl a few times too, which I find hilarious. I guess that's what I get for having Anya and Feldt avatars...

I remember most members by name since avatars change so often, but my view of a person can definitely be influenced by their aesthetic choices. I pay less attention to sigs without images though, for whatever reason.

I always tend to remember the name along with the avatar/siggy. Since the picture (being bigger) catches my attention first, I see that, and then see that name. Then put 1+1 together and think: Hey, I remember you!

And some people always tend to keep the same picture/siggy so I guess I really do remember the person by their picture first.

Another things I find myself doing is look at the post count. Somehow I can tell who the person is by the number of posts (I know, post counts are constantly changing) but the people who are in the 100s or 1000s will be in the 100s or 1000s for a while...
I don't know if anyone else does that though... 😳
