The affect of Avvies and Sigs on how you view a member.

Kind of. Like many people already said, it happens when someone keeps the same avatar for a long time (in my head: lambs=edward elric). But that's not how I judge them, rather a way to fix the nicks in my head. The judgment is made according to the posts (lambs=meanie, because there is no more yaoi in the poll!!! 😉 )
So, yeah, I find them useful to remember the person, but not to change my view on them.
(So people think of me as Tsukasa from TCP?? ALRIGHT!!)

Reminds me of how you guys thought Manick was a girl because of his avatar...
I am guilty of this
I'm usually a black and white photograph of some random black person, or something from Beck, so IDK.

If it's a new member, then yes, the avatar and signature affects how I look at the person, but if it's a person that's been around the forums and I already know them quite well, then I neglect the presence of avatars and signatures in terms of how I view the member.
Their posts would be more adequate
to take as a measuring device.

Why Ed and not Roy Mustang?

I don't know, I asked myself, too, but I just think of Ed. Maybe because yellow is more catchy?

Kindofishy. Not sure. I mean, if someone has an avatar with a wide-eyed and flowery girl, I assume this person enjoys Romance, perhaps Yaoi as well.
Then there are people who use multiple avatars with one specific object/theme in them; for instance, Gan17 commonly has a motorbike in his av, and ahoaho usually has some Blues guitarist in his.
Wait, none of that means anything about their personality, save for one hobby they enjoy. Crap. 🤨
Well, I'd like it if people judge my tastes and interests, not my personality, by my avatar and signature, I do the same to others...
yes it does....wait....a little...idk..i dont think the sigs affect my view of ppl...but avatars do...i guess... 😎
(edit:i cant spells goodz)
So basically to vanquish the world of evil you must have mega sex with a girl then your soul is taken...yes

Oh, thats why you were laughing so much about this last night.
I remember we actually had a poll about this somewhere. I think it got deleted, though.
I usually recognize people by their posting habits. Such as post construction and such.

I think of Ed, too, not Roy. Don't know why, though.
If someone doesn't change their avvie a lot, either by choice or because they're away for a while, then I get used to seeing that avvie and associate it with them more. And I'm always shaken the first time someone changes their avatar after I've met them, so I guess it does help me figure out who they are or whatever at first.
But once I get to know the person better, I start to recognize the way they post, and so I look at their name and ignore the avvie.
Gah, I make no sense, but I understand myself.
And yes, lambs will forever be Ed, regardless of if the avatar ever gets changed. Not Roy, though.

Hrm.. I guess I remember what a certain person posts by their avatar or signature, but I don't judge their gender or anything by it; just what they like, generally. XD
Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?
Remembering and seeing what people are like through their avatars and sigs is common I guess, since it's easier to remember someone through a picture than it is through text. Personally, I like to judge what a person is like through their avatars since they usually show what a person is into, although I'm probably wrong most of the time. 🤣

Hmmm, sometimes, but mostly only by their post context. But I usually just look at the username since people change their avatars so much i change it a lot too...
