soon it will be my 20st birthday^^

yet funny enough i am not planning to celebate it with my friends nor even tell them...

when we talk or meet its because i contact them.... and it makes me feel a void inside
i didnt even hear that our weekly meetings were gonna take place once in the 2 weeks now...

but everybody else but me is still seeing each other...
if tthey even forget my birthday... i think i will be devasted with sadness

but i guess i already am... maybe im shallow.. and i do think they care about me

i really dont know what i must do.... tell them or not tell them?

would it be right to test them or wrong..

WHY SHOULD I EVEN WANT TO TEST THEM IF THEY ARE TRUE FRIENDS 😕

Well, if you want to test them, don't put your birthday on Facebook.

do anything you like

You aren't planning to celebrate, you don't tell them your bday or make some hints that yours are approaching. And you aren't sure that they will remember your bday. But you expect them to greeting you?
And you judge them if they are true friends or not....

Hoping too much from others, and they don't act like you want them to be..
that's why you feel disappointed.

Add: *I'm not lecturing you, i want you to realize your hope first in case it doesn't work like you want, so you prepared your heart. Congrats on your upcoming bday.

your completely right... im just a very very silly girl...i contradict myself with feelings and thoughts

i want them to congratulate me... but i think that i dont want themto...... i think i dont want to celebrate it with them...

perhaps i want them to be in a certain way and maybe i am dissappointed but i feel like they let me down a lot yet i think and eel i dont want to celebrate it with them if none of my friends remember my birthday...

btw im a hypocryth... i never remember other peoplese birthdays.. yet this feels very important to me... in a sorta way

guessing from the tone .......u must be a girl to create such a topic...........

well guys usually dont care so much .........and i am quite indifferent

male bonding is restricted to ppl making calls when they need smth

and favours are remembered and ought to be repaid at appropriate time

drinking is complex too.......many a times u have to spend too much for a costly drink when u like the cheaper one better or else u may be made fun of

girls arent any better either .......last month my GF took me out for her birthday shopping and i ended up spending half the salary from my part time work on her......and had to trouble my sis for a loan to last the month and pay college canteen bill

but well she lets me do her regularly which would cost 4 times as much if i had to hire a prostitute of high quality so no worries there.........

aaaaaaaaaaaaah.....the world is sick......i need a break.....

so the moral of the story is

EVERYONE IS INDIFFERNT AND ACTS FOR THEIR OWN PROFIT BE IT A LITTLE OR LARGE SUM ....PROFIT NEED NOT BE MONETARY......IT CAN BE IN ORM OF PRAISE OR SELF GRATIFICATION.......

well i am a kafka fan

Just a recommendation, but you should probably reread Kafka... you seem to not really get him beyond a couple of vague concepts if that statement is so strongly linked to his writing in your mind. Well, I guess not everyone is particularly well suited for satire, but the comedic aspects of his writing in particular (which discuss human nature in terms of absurdity rather than cynicism) seem to have flown right over your head.

That said, I know plenty of emotionally needy guys. It's a mistake to inherently assume otherwise. The writer has stated her gender at this point, but it's still a mistake.

Now, for the topic's creator: while I might have some mild sympathy for you, you're really just being unnecessarily fussy. If you're not satisfied with the friendship, go make new friends or make the effort yourself. Getting angry because people don't act the way you want them to is a little childish and won't endear you to very many people.

Here's the thing about the internet: its denizens are not impartial, and your tone is far more suited to be mocked than to be genuinely consoled. If I hadn't been pricked by the Kafka comment, I honestly would have just passed over this thread. You're better off, you know, actually dealing with these issues in a more personal manner.

@crenshinibon ---- are u denying the existential nature of kafka works 😕

kafka definitely has deep existential roots

for example

metamorphosis
the hunger artist .....etc

anyways you are as much entitled to interpret it in your own way as i am in mine......

literature is not history to be engraved on tablets ........it is a stream of thought that influences and evolves over time

i've seen hamlets interpretation books change their content from when my dad studied to now

well i was free and there is no other pleasure greater than ranting??

No, no, Kafka is deeply existential. He cites Dostoevsky and Kierkegaard as immensely influential to his writing, it would be impossible for him not to be.

What I am saying, though, is that Kafka really wasn't the grim writer that you seem to imply he was, nor the sort of philosopher you cited him as. His existentialism was largely humorous, and not really all that dark. Even The Metamorphosis is more about the strangeness of the transformation than it is about punishment or sorrow. TThe Castle is probably the best example because the entire contents are intentionally ambiguous. We understand little, K understands essentially nothing, and power is based solely upon assumption. If you look at it from an objective standpoint, the entire book (or rather, what he finished of it) does little more than present a giant absurd scenario in which people act for reasons that no one seems to fully understand. That's really what makes it so ironic, and so brilliant...

Of course, literature is about making whatever arguments that you want, that's really what's so wonderful about it, but you seem to be making a pretty common mistake about his writing by only seeing one aspect. A lot of people seem to have a similar problem with Flannery O'Connor; there's just a tendency to take that sort of writer too seriously. Anyway, I should stop myself before I derail this conversation more. My apologies to the thread creator for drifting so far off subject, but I'm pretty compulsive about literature.

Believe me...i have had the same questions in my head..for each n every birthday i passed...so... i simply didn't celebrate my birthday at all...

BUT...now when i look back at it...i simply feel pity for myself and sadness for my actions....n...i wish...i would have had celebrated my birthday...EVEN IF THOSE FRIENDS ARE NOT WHAT U DID CALL 'REAL' FRIENDS....

Even if just for one day...if i can enjoy my life to the fullest...with someone whom i can call a FRIEND......i think...i would definitely be..the happiest man on earth...at least on that day....

i love my friends but im not good with dates.. heck i even forget my own birthday and my phone number sometimes.. lolzz..
dont test them that way.. if they do forget its not like they dont remember you, its just that they forget your birthday.. but that place that you filled in their lives wouldnt be erased! 😀

Your friends are not mind-readers... and I'm not talking referring to your preoccupation with your birthday.

If you keep your thoughts of inadequacy to yourself, they'll never know.

Communicate with them or expect nothing from them on your birthday.
