Japanese is a pretty easy language to learn, but what's tricky is learning to read it. So much kanji! (o_o)

I suggest learning hiragana and katakana - they're pretty easy - and then reading only shoujo and shonen for younger kids for a while. They have those hiragana-subtitle things next to all the kanji. It's much easier. ^^
