If there ever is any action, you always miss it, as you are fast asleep by the time they get to the whole 2 minutes of it.
And almost all of the time you spend watching Star Trek, you only look at the same ugly set with 5 chairs and crappy "futuristic" spacecraft controls.

I thought Palpatine only became deformed because Mace Windu bounced his lighting back at him?

Yeah, it's merely coincidence that some of the Sith have been deformed.. Particularly the two most prominent : Vader and Palpatine.
If you look back at the Sith spanning way back, you won't find any unattractive ones really. Though there are plenty that weren't human, and plenty that threw on weird makeup and masks just cuz they could.

Seriously, Jedi are restricted emotionally by law, and are forced to conduct business arbitrarily. At least a Sith can make choices on how to handle an unfamiliar situation.
