Oooo I like that theory. We haven't really seen vegapunk at all, just rumors, and now maybe get some back story now that Franky is on the island where the great one or whomever was raised(I assumed that was Vegapunk).
Agreed, it seems like Vegapunk is the type of character that will have a big impact on what happens so it would be nice to finally learn about him and acually see him.

But do you think that Kuma is actually TRYING to help the Straw Hats? I think that Kuma is one of those types of people that's trapped by the bad guys (In this case, the Navy are the good guys) and is forced to do their bidding, but secretly helps the side that fights against what's controlling them.
well i'm a little skeptical on that thought. considering who he is and what group he's a part of. i don't think he planned on making them fall in places to improve. cause it sounds to convenient to the saying "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade". i think he was just trying to get rid of them at the time, since if arrested they likely would've been brought near Ace in Impel Down. and i doubt he'd want to risk that.

And Remember that Rayleigh was starting to fight the light admiral, and there were the other supernovas around that could cause problems, and since he's one of the only few that know the strawhats took out Moria, that was probably the best way to contain the situation there (esp since it was luffy et al. who started everything...well after their friends got enslaved).
that was my line of thinking too, i know a lot of people are taking the stance that he's picking the island that they land on and is putting them there to train, but it really seems like a convenient cover up to what really happened.

Its true that its very likely the places they are sent are completely random although it does seem a little much. One arguemejnt I can think of that Kums sent them to those places by choice was, if he just wanted to get rid of them at that point killing them would have been fairly easy givin the way the fight was going and from what they mention of the character he doesn't have much problem with killing, either way I can't wait to find out which it was, thats why I like One Piece more than Bleach and Naruto is it almost always has me foaming at the mouth waiting for the next chapter where as the other two only do that to me on occasion.

if anything he could have probably done it as a forced disbanding. without a ship and everyone scattered normally it could make a lot of people give up. might even result in some deaths too.

well it is supposed to be a war, but i do think that's a lot for one area and time. with all those superpowers gathered in one spot is bound to make Oda lose track of something. unless he planned it out to every last detail.
