lol... personally, I'd still not consider him as a candidate for the position of the 'strongest' character as Saitama is nothing more than a representative of so-called gag characters.

These Gag characters can do 'anything' without even being serious about it. That's just one of the characteristics of them.

I was reading a novel yesterday, and the gag character of that novel can even own Saitama, our 'Onepunch' hero, really easily.
She became 50 times as strong as the strongest character of that novel, who was like a war goddess, in an instant.

That's why, I'd suggest you to never take these type of characters' strength seriously.
Power-ups of typical Shounen heroes is way more sensible and logical in my opinion. 🤣

Well true... point taken but him being ridiculously strong is the whole point of the series being gag. In gag, you can have any number of approaches to make a funny manga. It maybe action, romance, 4th wall, maybe horror. Gag or not he is still very strong, admit it. Just because he is a representative of a gag manga doesnt mean he cant be a candidate. That statement is pretty irrelevant for Saitama not being a candidate.

Besides some manga that started as gag later develop into a battle manga. A good example is Katekyo Hitman Reborn!! published in Shounen Jump as stated in Bakuman also in Shounen Jump.

I have only read Naruto, Bleach, and FMA so I can only compare these. I agree with your reasoning and that is exactly what I was thinking too. Ed would be the strongest character because he is a genius and plans everything through rather than use just brute force. But then xtr3m3dude said Goku, on that level I would have to agree with that. Goku FTW!
