Homosexuality as an issue/discovering your sexuality

I can't seem to find any realistic yaoi/shonen ai where the main character has to deal with their sexuality. I'd like to read a story where the character first discovers their sexuality and then initially rejects it/is unwilling to accept it (and not in a gag joke-like way, or for just a few short pages)...
Sure, it would be great if homosexuality was accepted by everyone everywhere, but that's not how it is, and I'm honestly kind of annoyed with all these stories where everyone is all happy-happy and confident about it, because I don't feel like it reflects reality at all.
Can anyone give me any recommendations? I'd be very grateful 😳

Well, I haven't read either, but I'm almost certain they fit; I Want to Talk About Love and The Love Letter. (The second is just a one-shot, though)
Also, I think this should be in the Yaoi / Yuri forum. You'll probably get more replies over there...
But that's for the moderator to decide, I guess.

I just wanted to say I completely agree with you.

Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yume o Miru and its sequel Sojou no Koi wa Nido Haneru by Mizushiro Setona.
Also, Yamashita Tomoko's tankoubon Illumination. Though you can probably count on most of Yamashita Tomoko's BL stories to have a realistic edge to them.
And aaaaalso, at least the first story of Akarui Kazoku Keikaku (morozumi sumitomo). She writes some other 'realistic' gay stories but they haven't been released as tankoubon yet nor translated.

Koisuru Boukun might fit. He's a homophobe who has homoerotic encounters, but as of what I have read yet, hasn't accepted it. I don't know how the story ends, though.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Thank you for your suggestions, I'll check them out! I've read Koisuru Boukun and I hunted down Kyuuso today. I'll check the others too, as soon as I have the time 🙂

Romantiscue, you are absolutely correct. I find it extremely rare that yaoi reflects what it's like to be gay. I am interested, and excited, to see what else is suggested...

Fake Fur, I think.

The Last March is really good at portraying this sexual confusion, even though it's g-comi shota. I wish there was more scanlated.

I think I've read Fake Fur before, but I don't quite remember what it was about, so I'll have to reread it.
About The Last March - it seems like only chapter 8 has been scanlated?

Well, I came across this OEL and thought you might like; Tough Love: High School Confidential.

Please only bump after one week or more and refrain from asking about scanlation status.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Anything Yoshinaga Fumi does is usually good. I'll try looking at my lists and see if I can remember anymore, because I know I've read more.
