The results really didn't surprise me. A lot of otaku either hang with their own crowd or don't care whether or not people know about their hobbies. After all, it a hobby just like anything else.

That said, I voted the last one, because I almost never just bring it up out of the blue. It's more like, if there is a reference to something within the realm of manga/anime, I am all over it, but it just doesn't come up

I think when I went to another forum a poster said he was a lawyer and he said that when he talked with people that he would compare anime or manga to Van Gogh and I'm thinking "This is a lawyer and plus he's comparing anime or manga to Van Gogh?! 😲 " I find it weird and I'm an anime or manga fan, so what do you think a regular person that maybe knows either nothing or just that Sailor Moon or Naruto exists would think?

I would think that they would like another lawyer.

Oh, and that maybe the lawyer that doesn't stop sucking money out of you even after you're dead might be a bit more appealing, perhaps due to shock. 😐

I guess I could be close-minded (I'm probably harsh, but if other people carry out these actions, then I'm just verbalizing them), but it might be just how this guy mad it look like. And really in the public I still think people generally think as anime and manga as cartoons. I prefer them thinking that Japanese anime is porn and it's "Japornamation" (it made me cringe when YTV's people called anime "Japanimation" because the name still leaves association in my mind. It made me cringe when Jay Manuel used it when there was sort of Japanese-animeish photo shoot in ANTM cycle 6 and referred to the look as that 🤢 ). I know there are people that are at MIT and those Top 10 Universities in the United States--Berkeley, Harvard (I even have people I know in a scanslation group that were accepted and are probably attending MIT and Harvard) that follow anime, but I think usually they leave that totally separate from their work.

There's probably enough doctors in Japan that there's no doubt that they enjoy at least manga while they are stuck on a long train with nothing to do, but say if the male doctor was reading the scary H manga and that doctor is the one I go to... 😲 I guess it depends how much the doctor has to touch you (or even at all) whether to go and find a new doctor though.

Well I guess it shows by my post MajorMarmot's reasons he keeps his manga hobby a secret: if he wants to be taken seriously in life by people that are like me, then he'll keep secret about his manga hobby, even if he doesn't touch the H manga stuff. 😐 (It's not a threat!)
