I still give it a benefit of the doubt. People can be really petty. I've read many comments on manga where the person says "I gave up after page 3." And people can be really harsh on things like love triangles. There are so many people who says it's a horrible manga just because their guy/girl didn't get chosen. I understand they're disappointed but the minute they opened and read it, they recognized there was a 50% chance that would happen, to the character and to them. I mean, personally I think Haruhi should have picked Hikaru but the manga still has good things about it.

I normally pay more attention to the cover/categories/genre of a manga than the rating, but sometimes a rating, sadly for me, can motivate me or keep me from making it my first choice. Still, i try not to be like many who rate based on shallow opinions, even sometimes i read something really good and don't rate it, so i'm sure there are manga with low ratings but "good" content, it all depends on people's taste.

Oh, I never look at the ratings. I think I tend to look at the reviews more often than ratings. Gotta' know why they rate a series a certain number before judging myself.

I do admit though, if I see multiple comments saying "this series is a piece of crap" I don't even bother trying to read it. #notworth

Definitely try reading the mangas that are underrated because they are usually gems. I noticed that the ratings on this site are quite high and overrated. That being said, it depends on how low the score is.. i'd say if it ranges from 5-10 give it a shot! (: Everyone has different tastes.
