That technique requires 3 key elements.

The body of a live person as sacrifice.
lots of Chakra and other stuff
The soul must be of a dead person...

SO if the sage of the six paths is truly dead aka did exist... then is quite possible... but is likely to be Madara or something.

nice chapter....there should be more peeps in madara's group, they only have sasuke,madara,zetsu,kisame,kabuto(+5 corpses and +1 unidentified corpse), jugo?, suigetsu?

i also think it is madara himself, the manga said before that madara is somewhat not complete or something like that(im not so sure about this), maybe he's missing his "real body"

It has to be dead... Kisame still alive and naruto too... The third hokage can be because his soul is trapped on the demon death technique and cannot bring back, thats why sarutobi used it against orochi he trap the souls of the first and second hokage and cannot be bringed back. The four hokage use this tecnic against the fox, then his soul is no longer cant be used.

Im betting that is jiraiya or the six paths but will be so lame and very pulled out from his "·$"·$
