and since it's a movie thread, battle angel alita's got a movie in pre-production coming out somewhere in 2009. just passing the word on

So now Hollywood ran out of superhero comics and moved on to mangas? Battle Angel Alita, DBZ movie, and now this and god-knows-how-many-more. On the good side, it gets more fresh ideas into nowadays' mainstream films, on the bad side it can give a really bad name to mangas for some.

We'll wait and see, that's my opinion.

When Death Note began getting really popular, of course a live-action was expected, so I guess the fact that it was getting pretty famous in America too made them think this up. I personally don't care for Zac,but then again I wouldn't know who would make a good Light. 😀

God first off I don't like the idea of an American version. For one, there's already a perfectly good japanese one. Two, Americans usually ruin things like this. And three, uh its set in JAPAN. Raito and L are JAPANESE. Its in godfucking Tokyo!! I mean, I got kinda pissed at Memoirs of a Geisha b/c everyone spoke english but then again the novel was written by an non-japanese person. But this is an already Japanese thing, and don't get me I'm not some 'japanese purist' I get mad about this stuff no matter what culture/country it is. (I loved letters from Iwo Jima b/c it was in Japanese)

And please. Having that douche Zac Efron play Light would make my eyes bleed. I hate that High School Musical shit and all the little disney channel tards. Anyone who likes that crap-pile of shitty acting, plot, dialouge, ect should be immediatly sent to rehab.

Personally, Death Note is okay, and I like the Japanese movie. And I'd like to keep things like that.
