The thing is, no one has ever said that to me. I don't know if it's because I'm very open about my otaku-ism, my confrontational nature, or the fact that I enjoy meaningless arguements that are based on opinion and eventually end up as a yes/no fight. But if someone did say that, I would totally say, "It's just an opinion, if you want to have a pointless yes/no argument, I guess I'll join in because it passes the time and helps with the hellish bowels of hell people call 'school'."

try to convince them that manga is cool and if it just won't work no matter how hard i try then i'll punch them in the face as hard as possible then ask if they've changed their mind yet

I would ask them if they ever read a manga, then I'd try to convince them that manga are great and
I probably would say something like "You really don't understand beautiful things, do you ? Sheesh, poor you, that's sad :<" 😀

but my friends have a pretty good view of manga so not an issue. 😀

I'd begin to tell them about the world beyond Pokemon and Bleach. I'd enthusiastically tell them all about the big world from josei and seinen: stories about grown people living for their dream: Waga na Umishi, Kokou no Hito.... I'd tell them about different and very distinguishable drawing styles like Natsume Ono or Minekura Kazuya. To prove my point I'll let them compare comics Lucky Luke or Asterix to From Hell or Blacksad.

I'd also lecture them about older manga like Akira or the works of Osamu Tezuka. I'd tell them manga about the importance from Osamu Tezuka- somebody that could be described as the person responsible for modern day manga. Modern?! Yes, I'd tell them about scrolls dating from the Heian era.

Many anime's are based on manga's.... Did the insulter of manga even know even Disney was influenced by Japanese animation?!
Most of the time "manga is stupid" goes together with "and anime sucks". When that comes I just have to let them watch La Maison en Petits Cubes, the Diary of Tortov Roddle, the Naoyuki Tsuji Anime Collecton, Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor animated by Koji Yamamura...

I used to say manga was stupid when my friends were talking me into it. Yes I did. Back in elementary school, like 3 years ago. 🤣 and now look at me. Can't stand a day without reading a series 😳

i don't know, 'cuz my friends either read manga themselves or just understand that people have different likes and respect that, none of them have ever said anything like that to me nor they will i believe, they like me the way i am 😁

but i guess should i actually have such a horrible friend who'd say something stupid like that, he wouldn't be my friend for long, 'cuz obviously he doesn't understand that people are different and shouldn't judge without knowing what he's talking about...meaning i wouldn't have that kind of friend to begin with 😮 so no problem for me 😛

i only know a few people who read manga ,its not very common here
so alot of my friends assume that mangas are aimed at kids because of the drawings
so i get told to "not waste my time on this stupid crap" almost everyday
i just ignore it,so what if they say its stupid?i enjoy reading mangas so their opinions dont matter

my friends don't care. They're gamers and only read the big names (Naruto, Bleach but they shun One Piece) unlike me. But the communities I'm involved in are pretty open so everyone has a different hobby which they do publicly. If that were to happen to happen, they would probably be kicked out of the group.

Depends on the sort of friend
to some I'd laugh and ask them why they read them then. And the others --well they don't say that even if they think so 'cause they know I like them but I guess if they would tell me to stop reading mangas or that they are stupid I'd laugh at them aswell.
