Come on, we all knew it was inevitable. Piracy, is piracy. After ACTA is passed, pretty much all the easy access sites will be taken down. It won't stop piracy, but it will take a huge chunk of it away(Such as myself) from the people who are tech savvy enough to know advanced ways. I would suspect that this site too will be challenged to at least take the links to scanlators away. O well, enjoy while it lasts. I would suspect we will see the viewer sites start to go down one by one from this point, same with anime streaming sites.

'yet the only websites I see being shut down are sites that don't make any money like onemanga.'
Don't kid yourself, sites like OneManga makes tons of money off of the work of scanlators. One of the old admins of MangaFox told me that the site made ~$10k net profit monthly.

At the risk of making myself look like a fool, what is IRC and how does it relate to manga?

I hear you say "Why?" Always "Why?" You see things; and you say "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"

You won't be able to depend on advanced/secret sites as they will go down because of snitches. Anime News Network in more than one past staff article recommended that people report sites that provide access to copyrighted material.
