For members that add/edit series
We made an FAQ for a reason, but since we never really mentioned stuff about it, I guess you guys didn't read the [sitelink=faq.html?cid=7]content policies[/sitelink] section. If you add/edit series, please read the FAQ.
Specifically, I will mention our policy on unscanlated doujinshi and oneshots. You can fully read about it here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/faq.html?cid=7#item49
Please just do not add them as series. There are just too many unscanlated things to clutter our database, since anyone can make a doujinshi/oneshot. Once they become scanlated, feel free to give as much info as you can.
This does not apply to unscanlated manga series.

Uhh... sorry. I've read the FAQ before, but must have missed the add/edit series part. One-shots often take some time before they get compiled into a published anthology, and some might just never reappear. Even when they get compiled into anthologies, sometimes it's just hard to tell which book they ended up in. It's a pity that some of these gems go under the radar, but I guess if they clutter the database... 🙁

I am not guilty, but I have several times considered adding something I've just read to keep track of it. I mainly use the site to keep track of what I am reading/what I have read so I don't repeat it unless I want to.
I hate the feeling of doh, read this before. This includes doujinshi/oneshots I've read. With this rule a lot of things I read will never get added and thus I will re-read a few of them. :/

Hm yeah, I also have some unscanlated ones marked as read and many on my wishlist. I take MU more for a database on "what's published in J/K/CN" as well and not so much whether it actually is scanlated. But I can see where the restriction comes from, especially with fan-manga.
Though, I would suggest an exception for releases by the same mangaka as addition to the main series. Unlike fan-manga, they're kinda official material although called doujinshi (e.g. Miyamoto Kano's story universe is a mix of original stories and doujinshi by herself).
Sorry, I'm Late.

We don't care if you are "forced" re-read things. We prefer having a clean database instead.
If the doujinshi are by the mangaka and scanlated, they get added. I see no problem in the restriction affecting this as teams tend to pick up the mangaka's doujinshi anyway (e.g. Miyamoto Kano).

(NOTE: I ignore pms regarding rejected unscanalted oneshots/doujinshis. Far too many people don't bother reading the FAQ, hence I won't bother replying anymore.)
