I've just had the hugest lol that I've had in a while...
I'm sorry that is just bull crap. They're just trying a new sales pitch.
Your childhood got crushed just now, huh?
No, I refuse it. I know for a fact that the original creator did not intend for this, that is why it pisses me off so much. Steven Blanc is just using his status as the son of Mel Blanc to promote his own sexuality. Mel Blanc wasn't even the creator, just the voice actor.

Eat that Steven Blanc. >:-(
What? Judging from the evidence presented in the article, it's pretty clear that the original creator's intention was to portray Bugs Bunny as a homosexual character, albeit in a somewhat subliminal manner. And the link you provided:
doesn't say anything about the origin of the phrase 'What's up, Doc?', it merely explains what inspired the demeanor which Bugs Bunny delivered the particular line in question with. It remains a fact that 'What's up, Doc?' was indeed the password to get into the Hammer Club. Additionally, squirting seltzer was a homosexual code during the early 40-50s. Yet you still "refuse" it?
I know for a fact that the original creator did not intend for this
But how would you know this? Do you have any credible and solid evidence to support this claim?

Maybe I did jump to conclusions, but from what I've read from Tex Avery he has no indication that he made Bugs gay. Even Chuck Jones who took over seem to show no intent. Why would he stay quite when gay rights were on up near his death? Would you like to expose the truth about your beloved character?
Plus what about the women Bugs fell head over heel for in the show? Bugs used the cross dressing and gay moves as a way to get at the other characters. When it came to women he actions were to actually get with them, and he was jokingly even more passion about it.
Remember it was a week after Dumbledore was called gay, and that was accepted quite well. SO applying that one could assume to try the same thing with Bugs.
All that aside, why would you believe a guy who has nothing whatsoever to do with Bugs Bunny? he's the son of Mel Blanc, the voice actor of Bugs, not even the creator or director just the voice actor. What say does he really have?
I'm not against gay whatsoever, but I am against lying to help your case.

which is quite surprising, considering Bugs Bunny's use of homosexual codes and phrases. Don't you think that from the arguments presented in the article, that the original creator did intend to make Bugs Bunny a homosexual character? It's pretty much obvious when many of a character's actions and his behavior have homosexual connotations.
Plus what about the women Bugs fell head over heel for in the show? Bugs used the cross dressing and gay moves as a way to get at the other characters. When it came to women he actions were to actually get with them, and he was jokingly even more passion about it.
Actually, he usually displays the same amount of passion for characters of both sexes, and yes, it is a bit more exaggerated when he makes advance towards women. However, this isn't necessarily indicative of his sexuality, and many homosexual men in real life also display behavior similar to that, including teasing other people with advances that might be interpreted as homosexual.
Remember it was a week after Dumbledore was called gay, and that was accepted quite well. SO applying that one could assume to try the same thing with Bugs.
Well, maybe he felt that he could do that after the revelation of another fictional character's sexuality was well-received and even praised. Revealing something that's related to a controversial and sensitive subject is often risky, and in the worst case scenario, it would create a P.R. disaster.
All that aside, why would you believe a guy who has nothing whatsoever to do with Bugs Bunny? he's the son of Mel Blanc, the voice actor of Bugs, not even the creator or director just the voice actor. What say does he really have?
Um... you're kidding, right? His name was erroneously written in the article, as noted in one of the comments. Didn't you see it? Also, here's a link to the roles he voiced as:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0086957/
Also, sorry for getting a bit off-topic there, folks. We're just having a slightly heated debate about the credibility of the article.
Anyway, here's a link to a webcomic that I find quite funny

Spam? How is it spam? Last time I checked, the definition of spam was
unsolicited or undesired bulk electronic messages.
of course there are many variations, such as 'forum spam',
posting advertisements or useless posts on a forum.
but I'm using the definition it is commonly associated with.
There is no reason to be under the impression that the debate I am having with KennEH! is useless or off-topic. It's relevant to an on-topic post in this thread, and we are merely elaborating on its veracity. Ergo, our debate is not against the rules, perfectly civilized and relevant to the thread. If anything, your post is spam, since it contributes nothing of intrinsic value to the thread itself. And is it so wrong to have a simple disagreement with someone? After all, we are all here to talk about our interests and post our opinions. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone else, as long as your opposing argument is well-founded and reasonable.
And here's another link you guys might find useful:
http://www.sankakucomplex.com
it's a site dedicated to anime, manga and Japanese culture. It's similar to the average anime blog, although some of the topics and anime it covers are not very mainstream.

@mickey
you're spamming a link of the day thread with talk about Bugs Bunny's sexual orientation (which should probably be considered as spam by default)

The reason it is spam is because no one cares about if that damn rabbit was gay or not.
And long posts are really annoying.

If it really is spam, then please elaborate on why you think that is the case.
@shaggievara: that isn't what constitutes spam. If no one really cared, then why did a certain person want to have a debate with me? And why do you find a long post annoying? It's not like it takes a long time to read the post, and it is a sign that a person actually cares to contribute to a thread.

I'm going to re-open this, since I find this thread to have some merit. It'd be such a loss for this to be locked. =/

Spam? How is it spam?
It's totally unrelated to the purpose of this thread. Please point me in the OP post where it is said that he wanted to talk about Bugs Bunny's sexuality... I'm sure it's an interesting topic and it deserves a thread on its own. So I don't see the need to hijack this thread.
If anything, your post is spam, since it contributes nothing of intrinsic value to the thread itself.
I'm a moderator. I intervene. I have no obligation whatsoever to be on-topic when I do so. Stop being a sophist, and lighten up.
This thread is just meant for sharing random links. 😉
Next one who mentions Bugs Bunny
will have his post deleted on sight.
Scary~ 😲
