It's Better Than It Sounds--Anime
I think this one is the best...
Fullmetal Alchemist: Double amputee military specialist searches for a magic rock recipe to get his brother out of a can. Depending on which version of the story you watch/read, the rock may or may not be their father.
and these are pretty good too...
Monster: Japanese doctor sacrifices his career to save the life of a young boy. Said boy decides to thank him. Painfully.
Howls Moving Castle: Story of a man's mobile home.
