I think at the beginning of the manga, the main character was a boulder, or a wolf. He met a boy named Johann or something, who wished to travel out of the cold and deserted area he lived in, in order to meet his relatives. As Johann died due to failed attempts to reach his destination, the mc managed to "assume" Johann's appearance. As the mc travels, he meets new people and receives their appearances as well. Along the way, a mysterious entity dressed in a cloak is also constantly reminding our mc that he has to defend himself against some evil entity that is able to steal his memories and/or abilities. At some point, the mc meets another boy, who wears a helmet, to hide his "frightening" face, and they go on to have an odd friendship.
