Hm, now that I think about it... poor Lambs and Stealth 🤣 Manick was too nice, he rarely locked threads.
Only because he's too busy for the forums
And these mods have no clue how the admin side of things work, haha

I've run forums. I know it's exhausting keeping up with the newbies who do things wrong, the idiots who should know better, the ranters, the trolls, and the poor users who do the right thing always caught in-between.
I totally appreciate anyone who's a mod, and you guys are doing a great job. Thank you!
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.

Exactly what I was thinking. I ended up giving up my admin status because it was so frustrating.
Thank you MU staff!

Lucky~At the forum I was in you could only spam once to be a mod. That one thread I spammed in was life damaging for all. 😀
that would be impossible here 🤣 being a mod or admin would mean too much responsebility for me 🤣 and i would prolly abuse the power anyways 🤣

Abusing powers is a big nono! 🙂
Heh, I was only admin once for like 3 days for a game site. I quit. Besides coding the damn site all those pms were too much to handle. 😔 Being an unknown admin is for the best, it's what I am considered now. 🤣

PBbbfftt.
I can't read the code, but I can certainly tell how much work it takes to do something significant. 🤢
But anyways, modding fits well into my schedule... lol

wait not here right? 😕 because posting it online wouldn't make you unknown 🤣
do you need a certain number of posts to be a mod/admin?
i know you have to be active and post a lot, but is there a certain number?

Tche, of course not here! (not that there's anything bad with it)
I said in a game site, like MU just for video games.
Requirements for being a mod/admin differs in many sites. Like here I think you become one by helping the community and adding releases, I could be wrong though. Same with the site I am in, I add game releases and do the web coding/designing...at last my job pays off.

as i said, too much responsebility! 🤣 being lazy and procrastinating doesn't help
You know, the convos you folks always strike up are PERFECT for PM's.

So whats this about being a mod?

Requirements? HAHAHA!
To be a forum mod, you had to apply when we asked for volunteers. Then Manick and I judged you based on the contents of your posts in perspective to which forum you asked to moderate. A high post count isn't the key. It's the content. Oh, and also how familiar you are with the community. Not necessarily how long you've been a part of MangaUpdates, but more like how well do you understand what we (Manick and I) want from the community.
Perhaps later, we'll ask for more volunteers, but the forum is still manageable for our current team
Admin: We never take volunteers. Don't bother asking. At this point, no one looks promising to me. And it's not about adding the most releases. Some of the people that add plenty of releases piss me off because they screw up the database (and I have to correct plenty of their entries). You'd think that they'd be able to spell their OWN group name correctly...
Perhaps if I were leaving, I would seek a suitable replacement...But I'm not, so too bad.
Actually, I take that back. Only way you can become an admin in the near future is if you know how to program/code. Hopefully Manick will put up that recruitment page within the next 2 weeks...

I noticed many mods were...spammers.
Makes you wonder what are the requirements to even being a mod...Tche I bet you guys have a spamming forum in the admin/mod section thingy~
How'd you guess, eh?

Yeah, we have a moderator thread where we can double-po-- ... no, triple-post(!!!) as much as we want, muahahaha~
cough
Anyways, Highway-STAR is right. We wouldn't be doing the job if we weren't interested in it. And it also depends on what function you have. I'm just a section mod, so I don't have much to do. I probably use my "mod powers" only like once a week on average. And section mods of even less popular sections like Shoujo/Josei (coughStarcough) practically don't do anything at all! So it all depends on how you look at it.
(Sweet girl, though. 😛 )
