Finish a least a volume, or about a volumes worth if it's an actual new series and not new to me. I have to really, really hate it not to at least do that. Anyone who drops a series after one chapter (or one episode for anime, or even the first chapter from an actual book) shouldn't even bother trying anything in the first place. You can't tell what a series is like just from that. They must never finish anything.

It is rare for me to absolutely dislike an opening chapter though. If the series garners a strong enough following after I dropped it, I sometimes pick it back up.

If I'm really bored, I might try to read a bit more. Generally though, if I'm not satisfied with the manga during the first chapter due to art, I'll drop it. And if it's some subject matter that I don't like. I'm not a huge fan of incest or rape in my romance manga.

Unless I really hate it, i'll give it a couple more chapters.

if i'm just absolutely disgusted by the content or if the art is visually offensive then i may drop after 1 chapter. I have dropped things after like 3 pages before, it was that bad 🙁
