I think that one of the worst cliche is that the main character might seem like a wuss but posesses extraodinary powers which they can't control at first, but somehow mastered it in ten chapters or so.

well, in vol 26 he gets the armor, i don'T know if you have read that far....

first it´s not like "ZOMFG I´m pissed-transform-own-back to normal" as previously said it´s not HIS power it´s the armors..Moreover he avoids to use it as it fuggs his already totally fked up body up even more. You see the armor only takes away his pain(from broken bones etc) so he can fight like his body were still good.
And NEVER....NEVER compare Berserk (the greatest manga ever) To some crappy Kiddo Naruto/DBZ/or whatever shit !!

Some series tend to overdo it to the max though, like Nagasarete Airantou (which I still like, I just find the nosebleeds annoying).

I had a nosebleed after looking at the picture of a nude man on the front of a newspaper.
And again after reading something along the lines of "Soon you'll be hearing her screaming in pleasure" in a fanfic.
