I'm looking for manga where the main character(s) wears a kimono (or some other kind of traditional Japanese clothing) most of the time. The setting should be modern or semi-modern. Most importantly, it should be a setting where it is no longer the norm to wear traditional clothing, but the MC does.

Additional preferences

  1. Preferably shoujo, though shounen is fine too
  2. No ecchi
  3. Preferably no harem. Reverse harem is okay if the female MC is likeable.

Examples:
Kamisama Hajimemashita (Tomoe and Mizuki)
Nurarihyon no Mago (Rikuo and many of the yokai)
Vampire Juujikai (Kayuki)
Ikoku Meiro no Croisée (Yune)
Shibariya Komachi

Well, it's seinen and it might miss your other points too, but Itoshiki Nozomu from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei seems to wear traditional Japanese clothing at all times.

The first manga that come to mind is Fukuyadou Honpo but it is josei...
Then maybe Sailor Fuku ni Onegai!? Don't know if ShiShi is counted as MC... >_<

Hana no Namae - Kei wears it most of the time... Think the only time he doesn't is when he goes to the party (...and the onsen 😀 )

A recommendation that might fit perfectly with your preferences is Gugure! Kokkuri-san. This manga features an interesting mix of modern and traditional elements, with characters often wearing kimono in a contemporary setting.

Do you know any manga where the characters, despite living in a modern or futuristic era, choose to wear clothing inspired by historical or cultural styles, like the kimono, while still maintaining a futuristic style?

A couple that may or may not quite fit the ask:

xxxHoLic - not quite shojo or shounen (it's technically labeled seinen), but there's a major (male) character who wears traditional clothing even outside of the weird supernatural parts.

Natsume Yuujinchou - this one I haven't personally experienced, but a friend really loved it, and my understanding is that Natsume spends a lot of time in kimono but is a modern day student. It's labeled shojo but note that it is not romance.

Suenagaku Yoroshiku Onegai Shimasu it's shoujo and it's pretty good
Kimi wa Shoujo it's not ecchi but it's kinda adult, i guess. very short.
Mokuyoubi wa Kimi to Nakitai.

Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san not necessarily the main character but everyone around her

Kiyo in Kyoto is a good one! its about a house of geishas that takes place at some point between the 1990s and modern day!

What is it about the anime/manga series "Kiyo in Kyoto" that makes it stand out from other shows about geishas, and how does its setting between the 1990s and modern day add to its unique charm?
