Increase Character Limit

Can there be an increase in the character limit for the signatures? D:
Mine is barely at the limit. 🤢 ;; And i just want to put more BBCODES in to make it look nicer but I can't cause it'll pass it. : <
EDIT:
Ok.
We would like two things then? xD
Increase character limit.
Implement a height size limit.

Seconded!
Wanted to add something else to my sig with the BBCodes as well, but I'm at the limit, or close to it. D:

I'm opposed. Now if people were to use the increase in allowed characters to make their sig not bigger, but look nicer or some such (with BBCodes or whatever), that would be perfectly fine. But, I think most people will just use it to put more crap in their sigs, and many people's sigs are big enough already.

What she said.
lol had the wrong gender, at first.
I am seriously bumping this suggestion. By increasing the character limit doesn't necessarily mean that the size of the signature increases. Some like to play with BBC-codes, and it would serve to be pretty convenient if you would implement this feature.
I assume this wouldn't take much work either.

Erm...I thought it was already increased? O_O
Or was it always that much?
Edit~ Ahh, it wasn't. Well still supporting this idea.

It's just a signature.
If it's too big, a moderator usually pm's the person to make it smaller.
The character limit is way too small.
I'm already at the limit of it.
And look at it, is it big? No.

I definitely agree with this. My signature is also barely at the limit and it's not huge at all.

I agree with this. I've had plenty of potential signatures that I couldn't use on here because when I fixed them so that they within the character limit, the picture looked too small to recognize.
And before you ask, it was before I started using weird, seizure-inducing sigs. 🤣

I'm with Iynira and Identity Crisis on this one. Not that I have a problem with increasing the number of characters for text-based sigs, but I find the images that people attach to the bottom of their posts excessive and distracting - especially if they're animated. Oftentimes they take up more room than the post itself.
So far as I'm concerned if you want to increase the number of characters in your sig then decrease the size of the images that people use - or get rid of them entirely. An avatar should be enough.

I'm not 100% sure with this, because coding or whatnot are not something I'm very proficient in.
There is a set width restriction. (350 if I remember)
Even with the current character limit, anyone can still use a bigger image (height wise) because I don't think there is a limit for height(?).
Increasing character limit, doesn't necessarily mean bigger images. My signature is small, but because of coding - it's split into 4 separate images, creating more characters.

I see where you're coming from, but it kinda seems like you want people to not have signatures with images or gifs just because some people have short attention spans. I personally think they make the boring, drab blue/white background look better.
I mean, the image size limit is small enough already (I know other forums that have 800x600 is default for their signature images), but personally I think making them smaller or removing them completely would take a bit of the fun we have on here out . And if you want to get deeper, we might as well take out the ability to have avatars as well, because all you really need on forums is a username.

To my mind increasing the character limit would mean an increased amount of text in the sig, unless by 'character limit' you mean the overall quantity of data stored in the sig?
Loose: There are other issues at stake as well. The 'drab' colouring of most forums is oftentimes used to increase the accessibility of the forums for individuals who are visually impaired in some way (i.e. epilepsy).
Out of curiosity is there a way to set an individual preference to disable sigs? Then you could have it both ways (i.e. people who want to see/have large and colourful sigs could do so, and people who don't want to see them don't have to).

I support increase character limits. In the past I've had problems staying within the current limits.

It isn't just text that appears on the sig it also includes BBCodes.
Currently there isn't a way to turn off sigs. See this thread: turn off avatars or sigs.
