I'm looking for something(of pretty much an genre out there) in which the traditional 'good guy' figure doesn't win in the end, or there's an otherwise two-sided/bittersweet ending.

I'm not fussy over anything else, to be honest. I'll read almost anything providing it's got a decent storyline and well thought-out characters.

Shin Angyo Onshi -> bittersweet ending (really good manga imho)
Death Note -> I'm not a fan of it though
Moe Kare -> "good guy" doesn't get the girl (at least imho)
Fruits Basket -> same as above

And probably Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Chrno Crusade anime (not the manga).

Death Note - Very good, deep and makes you think though who's the good guy depends on you way of thinking.

Akuma no Ororon - Bittersweet and dark feel

Angel Sanctuary - Dark themes and bittersweet ending.

666 Satan - A bit lighter and bittersweet ending.

Ubel Blatt - It's not over yet but so far the "good guy" hasn't been winning outright... If he is winning, he is struggling. But note this; its mature.
