I don't mind a sentence or two as long as it's not on every page. An info/translation notes page is sometime inevitable and I refer to them when it's needed.

Generally I don't like them if they're in the manga, unless they're really witty and relevant, and don't happen too often.
If you really have a lot to say, say it on the credit page so it doesn't become an obstruction of the art.

well ive never felt annoyed by the comments.. they r ok..
but i lol while reading

You're so cool , one thing i remember clearly is how much i enjoied the T/N .. everytime i saw something like ?_? i was looking on the page the translators note.. the comments were funny
oh and in the one at the end of the chapter, there r some funny too

soo its like a small chat, with no reply from the readers XDD ,
im fine with it

oh one thing i dont like is when they r trying to explain a word or something and they take like 5 lines to say something... half of the page XD, so i guess.. mmhh my opinion: make it short

I enjoy. I almost always read all of them just because their there, all those letters forming words forming sentences just begging to be read just like every other sentence/word out there...(yes, I'm an addict but whatever)

I think translation notes are important and I put many in whenever I feel that they're valid. All of the stupid comments you find in a lot of group releases ("fangurl sayz: Kyaaa~ <3") is ridiculous and takes away from the story. If someone has the need to make a personal comment about the chapter, they should put it onto their credit page at the end so that it doesn't catch the eye in the middle of an important scene (because there's no reason to comment on something mundane).

I really don't mind the translation notes as long as they are relevant, not to mention I always find the funny ones extremely amusing (especially when placed at the right place) 🤣

I like the jokes and the comments, they're funny sometimes.a whole text can't appeal to me though >.<

I appreciate them if they're informative. Especially stuff like cultural notes that give you information you probably wouldn't know otherwise.

It's kind of annoying, however, when staff leave loads and loads of personal notes about their thoughts on a certain page, or point out the obvious (as in explaining certain phrases and stuff which make perfect sense without explanation, or why they chose to phrase a particular part of speech a certain way - we all expect translators to mold the text in a way that makes more sense to an english audience.)

One memorable translator's note that I actually laughed out loud at was in Tokyopop's adaptation of Tramps Like Us. The main character raises a packet that says in English, "Kanpo Antacid " to her lips, and at the edge of the panel I followed the asterisk to a little note that said ' An antacid.' I was like... thanks, Tokyopop, but I kinda guessed that >_>

Reading comments in mangas, is like hearing the comments of other viewers in the cinema. I don't like this. Especially when I'm sucked deep into the story, comments are really annoying.

A funny comment in a comedy manga is okay though.

Notes that are directed to us, the readers – why not?
Notes with the staff reminescenting the inside jokes from their IRC channel – eating my HD space. If it is well written, I will gladly
read it. If not... GTFO my .rar.

That about sums up my opinion too. =)

Yeah one or two comments in a chapter is fine.

I especially like the funny ones 😃 There were some funny ones in the Rosario + Vampire scans i remember reading. Had me lolin for a while 🤣

But yeah, keep it to a bare minimum. Too much can get annoying and it diverts our attention from the manga.

Interesting if they're relative to the manga. Terminology, background and translations and such are interesting.

I don't get too caught up in reading manga a lot (usually if it's really good or I'm just a fanboy) so I'm fine w/ in-story comments most times as long as they're not obnoxious like the example Snoopy gave. But the ones I really hate are pointless ones like "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/j_rock/" It's then that I think, "If I wanted to know what that is, why would I need a link that I can't even copy? And, my browser already has a search toolbar." >:-(

As for after notes, I share Mamsmilk's opinion.

If they're relevant and explanatory, then they're helpful, but anything personal or stuff like "omg boobz lol" is dumb and annoying. I just want to read the manga, not bond with a scanlator.

A translation class I took last quarter mentioned that notes should not be included when it can be helped at all (it's unimmersive and makes the reader feel like they're just reading a semantic translation), and I try to do everything I can to avoid them.
