there are cases when the internet doesn´t load or isn´t fast enough so you can use the tv. It is faster to switch channels on TV. TV has more advertising than a website could have. It is more fun to watch a mvie together in front of the TV than all sitting infront of the computer. And there are really BIG TV sets with high graphics that make it a festival for the eyes.

whaaaat?
owh, I have to salute you. 😀

well, even it will extinct, i dont think it will be in any near time...
you know, in country like mine, even internet user only 12% of population.
we are not wealthy country and developing rates of the people still under average,
and even there are still many places/area where TV broadcast still cant reach. though 90% information channeled via TV.
In th old days when TV was first introduced, people thought that it will sweep radio, but it didnt. So, i think it will be the same case with Internet.
🙂

I only watch TV when someone else is, as a social event and such. Haven't watched it by myself in at least 4 years probably.

Television: watch a series of shows you have no control over with annoying chunks of advertising thrown in.

Internet: watch whatever you feel like.

Yes, i do.
TV programmes are horrible. Cheap soap opera anywhere on the channels.
I turn on TV (and sit quietly long enough) when there are big news... such as natural disasters and terrorist attack.
Sometimes variety shows work on me, interviews with dissabilities, succesful enterpreneur, etc.
Rather than that, i prefer to stay online where i can access anything.

I don't really think that it will become extinct so soon, since its a pretty easy way to kill time. You don't have to think much, just kill time if there's nothing else you want to do...

Personally, I only watch TV when there's a film, that sounds good (which is quite seldom). On the Internet those films are hard to find and mostly have a horrible quality. Still, if they are on youtube I will watch them there. Additionally, I only have German television, but I like the English version of most films better, so I'm quite satisfied with watching on the Internet...

However, there are still so many people who spend all day watching television (no offense). And you have so many different kinds of TV channels, that everybody could find something to watch.

Probably people also find it pleasant to have a schedule. So they won't watch all parts of a series at once and have something for what they can wait. Maybe...

Interesting topic 😀

I highly doubt it will become extinct anytime soon.

I've only stopped watching it because I finally got my own laptop and prefer to stay in my warm room, plus my rents are always hogging the TV watching soap and crap like that, so I can't go and watch my Smallville DVDs for example, so I just watch them on my laptop. However if I had the choice, I'd rather watch it on the TV. The quality is something else.
Plus, I don't have Sky, Cable, Virgin, BT etc, so my choice of TV is very limited.

This whole watching in 3D is slowly making its way into TVs in homes too. It's evolving all the time.
Loads of people still watch TV.

I think it may be. Or just people won't use TVs to watch it, just computers.

I don't watch TV at all now and I don't miss it. Before, I only watched it when there was some interesting film. All these commercials, TV shows, soap operas, celebrities and politicians really annoy me. My friend has two kids (10 and 4 years old) and I'm terrified when I see them staring at the tv, watching cartoons mindlessly all day with this "brainwashed" look on their faces.
So, if I want to watch a film, I can watch it on my laptop, and I don't care about the rest of things TV is about (I'm even glad that I don't waste time watching it).

Eventually, yeah. At least, it will once everything is on the internet; for example, I can watch whatever dramas I want, but I can't watch Food Network, the History Channel, or the Home Improvement channel on the internet, and I like those channels.

I think so, though I don't know exactly how long it'll be until TV dies. There are networks that allow you to watch shows on their websites in case you missed them, and now you can even watch sports games on the provider's website (Or on some streams if you're lucky enough to find a stable one).

My computer runs movies and TV shows in better quality. I don't need a bunch of remotes, and I can choose the shows I want to watch, whenever I want. That same computer has multiple uses.

Eventually, all programs will run off of the internet.

But the standard screens will stay for longer, unless they are going to be swapped out for high quality projection screens.

One question: what about sound systems?

TV will never become extinct?
How would news reporters & CNN be in business?
HBO, Comcast, Verizon, etc...depend on TVs for there stuff to sell.

If it is going to be extinct, then the only reason would be because stores are now selling hand-held TVs or something of that nature.

TVs are needed in stores, and restaurants, etc.
Maybe in the year of 2763. 🤢 By then we posters would be dead.
I bet even the internet would be out of business.
